Birth Center Tour

This has been an awsome week for me! I found a wonderful doula and I toured a birth center!

The birth center was wonderful! Not what I expected at first... I thought I was going to a house or something...looked so homey! The front looks like a dr's office with exam rooms. The the two birthing rooms are in the back, and they both look so intimate!

And...it turns out the CNM used to work for my OB's father for 25 years! So, when I mentioned my OB, she perked right up and started talking away. She also knows my Peri. What a small small world!

I really love the birth rooms, but the facilities are cramped for a family of 6, a doula, and my mother. I found out there is another birth center in LA even CLOSER to me. My doula is studying to become a midwife there (I think an apprentice or intern). She said she may be able to put me on a short list for a scholarship to offset the cost! So I will be touring another birth center next Thursday. Either way, the waterbirth/birth center bug has bitten me! I'm not going back to the hospital...unh unh! So excited!

Here is a link to the center I toured..

I reeealy liked birth room #1. I could see myself giving birth in either room, though!

I will update next week with details from my next birth center tour... and my decision on which one will be "the place".

Geez that place looks like a fancy spa resort, lol!

I hope your tour next Thursday goes well at the other center, and that a decision isn't too hard.

Holy moley, you think they would let me take a pre-baby vacation there? Haha, Southern California and that birth center are both so gorgeous. KUP on how the other tour goes and feel free to share photos again Wink

I also LOVE the first birth room - I remember you mentioning you loved purple! Biggrin

Wow that looks so beautiful! I wish I had the courage to give birth outside of a hospital (maybe if the birthing center offered drugs!) but I know my pain threshold and I know I will want the epidural! Good luck!

Yes, the birth rooms definately have a spa feel to them. Here is a video of a birth in that very room:

There's a #2 and #3 video as well. So beautiful!

So if money, age, health and house size were no worries how many children would you like to have in a dream world???

Well, if age, and money were no object, I probably would be having #8 right now LOL!

I think I'd probably still stick with around 2 or so... although there were points when I LOVED having 4 siblings.
