Chats to Crowns Thread!

I'm facing a bit of writer's block today and I thought I'd initiate a chats to crowns thread, as can be seen on the boards of other months! This is basically just a way of increasing your post count (although I think most of you don't need it) in order to participate in Birth Buddies, Gift exchanges... or just for fun.

This is a random chatter, off topic thread... you can literally say anything. "I'm drinking tea, I really miss coffee." Chatter away!

Carters.com has free shipping on orders of $50.00 USD or more today! I came SO close to spending nearly twice that, but realized I really, really shouldn't. Sigh.

Great Idea Jasmine!

All of the clothing you have over in the states and canada is so cute. You have so much variety to choose from compared to what we have here Sad

I can't wait til next week to find out the gender and spend money on clothes. I can only handle so much of creams, whites and yellows! I want to buy blues or pinks!

It's a beautiful day here today it's nice and sunny but it's still cold. We went to toddler time this morning at the library and then we had lunch with a girlfriend and her son.

Nothing planned much for this afternoon, might try and get some washing done.

Nicole, do you have a strong feeling either way about your LO's gender? I keep anxiously waiting for word from Tamara... sigh.

If I happen to travel to NZ in the next 4 months (ha!) I'll bring you a suitcase full of clothes.

I'm forcing myself to not buy anything for this baby for a while. We're having 4 showers. Yep. 4. One for me at work, one for the *older* women in my family, one for my friends, and one given by Matt's sister for his side.

I could try to combine some of them but the groups of people won't really mesh well.

Eh. Oh well. I am just happy that we have so many great people in our lives that they want to shower our baby with gifts!

I definitely miss coffee. And waiting a WHOLE month to find out the gender is KILLING me. I would like to know if I need to go through all my baby boy clothes or look for girl's clothes! I'm impatient. ha

I am just ready to have the darn fall/winter clothes on the racks of the stores! I am able to buy the basics like onesies and burp clothes recieving blankets that kind of stuff, but as far as clothes and warm sleepers it is gonna be a few more weeks before that stuff is out and I can really start getting things.
I am finding this all to be so stressful. You would think after 3 other kids this would be like a walk in the park but I have to start over from NOTHING.It is like he is my first.I did put some stuff in layaway the other day that finishes all my basics including some bottles, liners for the bottles, binkys that kind of stuff.I was surprised it was less than $200 but I still have lots to get.I also have the 3 older kids who I will have to be buying school clothes for in Augest/September. UGH the stress of being a single momma to 3!!!

Busy day here. We're going on a road trip tomorrow morning - leaving at 6 am! SO lots to do today.

We spent the morning at our old house cleaning out the garage. (We still own the old house and rent it out, but we store some of our things in the garage) Got a BIG pile to go to the dump!
This afternoon I have to pack and get the house cleaned. Isn't it nice to come home from a trip to a clean house? That never happens though!

Also I have a hair appt this afternoon Biggrin I got bangs a few months ago for the first time since I was a kid and I really loved them. They've been growing out for 3 months now so I'm going to get them cut again, and the rest of my mane freshened up. Odd for me since I usually only get my hair cut once a year but I've got bangs to maintain now!

I can't wait to find out the gender either! Going through the garage today were all the boxes of baby clothes from DD and DS. I want to know which ones to bring back home with me and start organizing!

You are too cute! I'm so glad the waiting is over for me! When doc told me at 11 weeks that baby looked good and that this was "really happening" guess what I did? I went to target and started a registry and scanned EVERYTHING pink and purple I could find! If it was girly, I scanned it! Looks like I'm gonna have to do some major changing of the registry now. LOL!

What a great idea! I'm also a member on a yorkie website and we play games to get our post counts up... things like starting at the number one and counting up from there lol! I'm at work and watching (secretly) Sex and the City on my phone courtesy of of the HBO Go app... the greatest app EVER CREATED! I will be on here randomly posting all the time (and might steal the idea for December!)!

Jasmine - I haven't had any feelings of whether it will be a boy or a girl. I am having increasing amounts of boy baby dreams though?

Sandra - I hope you have a nice relaxing appointment away from the kiddos. I really need to get my hair done - haven't had it cut for over a year

Today we are going across to see the family, it's dbf's brother's birthday so we are going out for dinner and spending some time with that side of the family. I have to tidy up the house before we leave just so its nice for when we get back home on Sunday Smile

Tamara - I was just excited to hear! I remember all the pent-up energy and questions I had before *my* anatomy scan, and so I could only imagine how you were feeling! But like I said, I'm so happy you are in love with your little man. It sounds like your whole family is thrilled Biggrin
And good luck changing the registry - I frankly haven't started one yet, oops!

Sandra - good luck with the road trip & have fun!

I way overslept today. Like way overslept. Oops. Its now 2:44 Oregon time and I haven't really gotten anything accomplished, either on my paid work on around the apartment. I'm leaving in about 3 hours for prenatal water aerobics! I live 3 blocks from a major hospital here in Portland. While I sincerely hope I won't present any complications that will necessitate a delivery there, I'm more than happy to take care of their $4 prenatal aerobics class! Woohoo! If I like it, I'll buy a punch card and become a regular. But I feel I'll probably need to stop stuffing myself into my pre-pregnancy 1 piece speedo at some point very soon.

I'm joining in Smile

I needed to get more work done today than I did. Sigh. I work in the office M/T/W then TH and Fr technically I'm "off" b/c I'm part time but my job isn't really designed for part time so I end up working a lot on my 2 days home (but I'm not complaining I get paid very well and they basically tested out "part time" for the first time ever in this role with me and I make it clear DS is home with me and if you want to call me you can but he'll be here, period.). But I was traveling for work for the last couple days and I should have caught up during nap time today but instead I read my book and just replied to e-mails. Oh well...maybe I'll be better tomorrow Wink

Tomorrow I also have my doc apt and I get to schedule my u/s! Nicole I can't wait to hear what you're having! Will we add more blue eyed blonde haired boys? LOL Or girls? I'm NOT looking forward to being weighed though, it's been a hefty 3 weeks I think!

Sandra - I haven't had my hair cut in 18 months. That's so bad, I have split ends. But my hair is straight and boring and I've been lazy. I was joking with DH that I might just wait until the week before this baby is due - that's the last time I had it trimmed the week before Evan was due.

Time to put DS to bed....normally that would mean a nice glass of wine lol Not so much now! HAHA

I've also switched to three days a week only at my crummy corporate job. No take home work, my 4 days off are for cleaning, exercising and freelancing. I'm about 10,000% happier - although I wish each of my days away from the office was about 36 hours long so I could balance fun activities with getting enough paid work done.

That prenatal water aerobics class was a blast. Most of the women in the class were really natural-birth oriented, which was cool. The instructor mentioned at one point that if we go past our due date (which I'm basically resigned to happening to me), the class is free. woohoo!

Hello girls... I'm stuck at work tonight missing my babies. I really hate having to work full time anymore, as I'm still so tired with this baby and my house is in a constant state of disaster. It's like, there's no point in me working my butt off on my two measley days off to clean it because the first day back to work DH will let them tear it up again! My DD is at the age now where she's asking for me all day, and saying "mommy's at work?" Like she doesn't understand why I would be here instead of being at home caring for her... which makes complete sense because I should be able to give her all of the time and attention that she needs and deserves, along with my boys. It makes me want to cry when I think about it. And now with baby # 4 making his arrival before I know it, how am I supposed to just come back to work, and probably after just two weeks because I can't afford to take any more time off than that? I keep pressuring DH to find a better job, one that makes what we currently make together so that I can be a SAHM (which wouldn't be too difficult for him because he's more than qualified and we don't make much together as it is!)... sorry to be unloading like this but it's weighing so deeply on my chest and I just don't know what I'm going to do.

**joining in despite having crowns- chats are fun!**

Hugs Krystal. I am sorry that you have to work to make ends meet. I hope your DH can find something that will allow you to at least work less. Big hugs.

Tamara, congrats on your baby boy!! I know you were yearning for a girl, but I am glad that your Prince is healthy !

Sandra- have fun on your trip and take pics!

Jasmine- glad the water aerobics class was fun and cheap! Target might have some preggo swimsuits that are good looking and not too pricey.

Nicole and Katie- ugh, I want to know the baby's sex too. it's killing me not knowing!

Aas for us- we just came back from a trip to Kentucky. We stayed at a cabin in their State Park resorts. It was fun and beautiful. The air was SO fresh there! We all took naps the first day, it knocked us out!

Baby news- I can feel her or him move finally and i really popped. The kids are asking if I am sure that I am not pregnant Wink I meant to tell them by this time, but i would really want to also tell them boy/girl... might be time for change of plans.
A new Carter's outlet store is opening near me!!!! Don't hate me. I am so freaking excited about that!!! Just.need.to.know.the.sex!

Adorable picture! You've definitely been missed around the board, Asha! I'm glad you got quality time in nature with your family!!!!

Also, I can't *wait* to know the sex of your baby either. I'm not "hating" about the fact you have a Carters opening near you. I'm just crossing my fingers that you pull my name in a potential gift exchange Wink

Krystal, I could have written that post. We're feeling the pinch of me working part time - long boring story short, but my pay schedule changed with my schedule change and I'm going twice as long as normal without a pay check. To top it off, SO forgot about this fact and paid outright for one of his University classes without telling me. June finances, you stink. I'm sending out good energy for both of our men to obtain gainful employment because I want to badly to just be a Mama once our little man comes!

Am I the only one HAPPY to live far away from
Carters? Lol! It's too tempting!! I go twice a year on
my US shopping trips. With our dollar so strong I can dress my daughter (I guess daughters!!) for less than half price! When they get older and want brand names though it won't make much diiference, but for now, I love Target ( in Canada this year!!!!) macy's, Carters, Koles and Osh Josh!!!

I have no carter's outlets near me. The nearest outlets are about 2 hours away, and any money I save by going there would be eaten up by my gas costs (and Thruway tolls!!). I just go to garage sales in the nice developments and find stuff--I limit myself to two fridays a month for garage sales...though I can't wait till we find out the gender so I can either go through Jack's stuff in the attic or go find good girl stuff at a garage sale.

I took Jack swimming today-we have been going pretty much every Monday for the last year. He loves it. Its in a heated therapy pool at a local nursing home, and its for kids 6 months to 4 years old. I got him a "Puddle Jumper" floatie a few weeks ago-it goes around his arms and his torso and really helps him float. I got him to let go of my hands a few times today and float around. He's so squirmy that he ends up with a mouthful of water. Its fun though.

On the haircut thing, I need to get mine cut/trimmed. I have curly/wavy hair and its so hard to find a good hairdresser. My SIL cuts it for now, but I really just have her trim it. I need a new style, but I really can't find a good person to cut my hair. I had a great hairdresser for two years, but then he moved an hour away to live with his boyfriend. Then I had another great one for a year and a half, but she had to stop doing hair because she couldn't support herself. Sad

Well, I've got to get off the computer and clean. My friend just started with Cutco knives, and is coming over this afternoon for a demonstration. I probably won't buy anything, because that stuff is EXPENSIVE!!

Any suggestions on inspiring job searching without nagging?

I feel like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place living in Portland, frankly. SO is hesitant to job search because he isn't making bad money, considering he doesn't have a degree. He's working on a BS in materials engineering, but it is a long road. Here in Portland rent is high and every graduate of a private college ever moved here for the culture and so the market is SATURATED with 20-somethings with $200,000 bachelors degrees fighting tooth and nail to work 10 hours a week in a coffee shop. I'm one of them and it frankly sucks. I'm really advocating to move away shortly after our little guy joins us. I grew up in rural NW Washington (the peninsula, think Twilight) and I miss my family and nature and cheap housing SO badly!

That's funny you should say that Jasmine. DH just finished an electrical engineering degree, but the offers he is getting are about $15,000 to $20,000 below what he is making as an electrician with overtime... So he is stuck working there for now, until the market picks up again.
But we need to move b/c our house is so small. Too bad we bought it the house at the highest price before it dropped 50%. Nobody is going to buy ours since there are literally hundreds of ones just like ours on the market for cheap too. I feel stuck, stuck, stuck.:bigarmhug:

[QUOTE=sweetsriracha]Any suggestions on inspiring job searching without nagging?QUOTE]

I've tried, but every time I bring it up he acts like he's doing everything in his power to find something better... which I know he's not really. He graduated from the Art Institute of Las Vegas with a degree in media arts and animation... and he's a fantastic and amazing artist. There are zero jobs here in Las Vegas for him. Everything is either in LA, Florida, or New York. Our only moving option would be LA, but we're upside-down in our house right now (thank you crap-tacular economy!) and moving isn't an option. We both currently work in the timeshare industry (I brought him into it) but we work for different companies. He hates it, so because of that, he doesn't want to go to another timeshare, which he so could, because he's made a pretty good name for himself on the marketing end and I know other companies would hire him in a second. He's not going after them, again, because he doesn't want to leave one "crappy timeshare" (as he calls it) for another. He also has about 15 years management and retail experience, so he could do so many different things... IMHO he's just not trying. I don't know what to do because it's not like I have nearly as many options as he does. I've only been working for 10 years (I'm only 29), I didn't go to college, and even though I have tons of marketing and management experience (it's all I've ever done pretty much, for all these years), timeshare just isn't what it used to be. I brought DH into it because I was making six figures and he was bringing home $500 per week. We were both making great money, then everything went to hell in 2009 and both of our incomes got cut in half, and yet we still had the same amount of bills of course. So it's pretty much check to check all year long, and using every cent of our pretty decent sized tax returns just to catch up... just to fall behind all over again. It's a sick cycle and I'm just so tired of it, it makes me want to cry. Sorry this is so long, I'm just at my wit's end, and with this new baby I'm more stressed out than I've ever been...

I really hope both mine and your situations turn around very soon... sending T&P your way! :bigarmhug:

Asha... I'm sorry you're in this mess, too! Hugs to you as well!

This economy really blows doesn't it?

On another topic, I was just wondering how much caffeine is in Chocolate. Dark chocolate has the higher amount, milk a bit, and white almost no caffeine. Oh good! I was feeling guilty about having a bite almost daily, plus my daily half-caff. I figure indulging my rich dessert craving by eating one square of white chocolate must be better for me than eating a whole slice of cheesecake, right? Wink I liked this webpage the best: http://www.amanochocolate.com/articles/caffeineinchocolate.html

Summer, I know myself better than to even clink on that link. I'd want chocolate too much, and I definitely don't have the self control to stop at one square Wink

Asha and Krystal, thanks for sharing. I'm glad we can be so honest with each other. I wish you both and your respective hubbies the best of luck.

I was having the CRUMMIEST day. I have a yeast infection (TMI, sorry) and I was generally uncomfortable and unproductive today. I started crying over almost nothing when my SO walked in the door just because I was frustrated with a million little things and felt kind of worn down. BUT he was a doll and brought me home kefir on his way back from the gym. I finished some more work and noticed I won one of the pg.org Father's day gift card prizes!!! I'm so much happier now.

Summer, you eat ONE piece of chocolate a day? You are the woman!!! I try not to even buy sweets b/c if they are in the house.... I will eat them. Like the chocolate ice cream left over from Father's Day- I figured it wasn't enough for all of the kids to have, so I finished the carton off when they went to bed. I am awful like that, especially when pregnant. Not good at all. So I am really impressed with your self control!!!

Jasmine- sorry that you were feeling frustrated! Cut yourself some slack for not being 100% productive. You are always baking that baby boy you know- and that's very productive right there! WooHoo for winning the gift cards!!

I woke up super early today b/c I went to bed early and after doing some laundry, I get to have some peace and quiet all to myself! Yayy!

Asha, I never understood until relatively recently why my Mother always woke up between 5am and 6am when the five of us were little. Now I do! I've got a lot of ability to set my own schedule now that I'm working part time - and this morning I got up early to go to acupuncture and now I have almost the whole day in front of me! Woohoo!

I am DEFINITELY not getting up at 5am. I 3rd the "gross." No, I'm just striving to get up at 8 instead of 10 - to be slightly less lazy.

I'm often feeling a little anxious these days - it sometimes feels like I will be pregnant for a million years and never get to cuddle my sweet little boy. I better appreciate these last few months where I get to set my own schedule!

I am NOT a morning person. Blah 8am is plenty early for me Evan usually gets me up between 7 and 8 I miss the days of him being all little and snuggly and I could get him in the morning and stick him in bed with me and he'd sleep in until 9 or 10 lol Then somewhere along the way he started crawling and standing and pulling my hair and now we just get up and I'm thankful he takes a nice solid nap so I have a little down time in the afternoon Smile

I'm so sorry so many of you have such economy/job/house stress Sad DH and I have been very lucky. We've both had solid employment throughout. I even resigned after Evan's birth and they offered me a very very part time role which I took then they came to me about 6 months later and asked me to come back to the job I resigned if they'd structure it so I could work part time. Granted I just spent the last 2 hours working and I work from home technically "unpaid" on my 2 days home. But overall there's just no way I could have the flexibility I have and the money I make anywhere else so I don't mind so much. And I joked when we movved in to this house our kids could take me out in a body bag b/c I was never moving again. So I think we're stuck here forever Smile

Today my carpets are being cleaned so the kids and I have to get out of the house. I think we'll head to the library, and maybe the park too. My navy blue carpeted stairs have been pooped on, puked on, and diaper creamed in the last month. Time for a goooooooood cleaning!

Asha, I'm with you on the sweets! I do so good going through WalMart when I'm grocery shopping as to not buy sweets, because if I do I'll eat them all by myself!

I'm only going to register at Babies R Us, just to keep it simple and sweet! I get confused when girls register at two or three different places... it's too much running around lol, especially when BRU has everything that you need for baby!

I don't get up early on purpose when I don't have to... only because my kids are up by 7:30 or 8AM anyway... so it's not like I really ever "sleep in." I do hate getting up early to come to work when I open (6:30 is about when I get up)... although I prefer to open as opposed to closing, only because I much prefer getting off at 3PM rather than 9PM at night!
