coffee

is anyone drinking coffee? I am so tired that I cannot function!! With DS I did not drink any caffeine my entire pregnancy and none the 14 months when I was nursing. I am a zombie these days, no matter how early I go to bed because I sleep so poorly!!!!!

One cup is considered ok by pretty much every source I've seen. I sometimes have a couple cups. I just try not to go overboard, more because it stops me from sleeping than anything else.

Through both pregnancy's I have had one large cup of coffee in the am and a cup of tea in the afternoon and sometimes a diet coke in the evening(tsk tsk).
I have heard 1-3 cups is ok???

I too have heard that it is OK in moderation and know tons of people who have coffe daily. I have never been a coffee drinker so it is a non-issue for me

This is pretty much me too. My OB has no issues with me having coffee while pg. I think you can have a max of 300 mg a day? Sodas actually list the mg on them now and one is like 30 or so....so you are safe if you need a little pick me up.

I hope I'm doing this right - I haven't posted before!

I was really, really tired too, sleeping and napping a lot! Then, I had a routine blood check at my doc appt. Turns out I had low iron levels. After I started taking an extra iron supplement I started to have more energy and I'm not as tired now.

As for the coffee, I generally just have one cup in the morning. I think that's supposed to be alright!

Good luck!

I drink between 3-4 cups of coffee a day, before I got pg I would drink maybe 5-6 -lol. I live on coffee. I spoke to my midwife about it and she wasn't too concerned.

Yes, I think that many pregnant women get the go-ahead to have 1-2 cups a day. I'm not a coffee drinker (or any caffeinated drinks) so it doesn't affect me. I often wonder what caffeine would do to me Wink Would I turn in to super mom????? Biggrin

UM, you ARE super mom already. Who KNOWS what you'd turn into! Wink

I drink about 2 cups a day on average. Sometimes a little more. I've even had a few lattes - I try to keep it below 3 cups per day. I just sincerely like the taste of black coffee!

I don't usually do coffee unless it is a fancy drink from Starbucks..which isn't in the budget these days. I do drink an occasional Pepsi though, especially when I'm at work. I need the boost! I echo all the other ladies statements...its OK to have in moderation....not like you're smoking a crack rock or something.

I'm in the coffee drinking club too Smile I didn't drink it in the first trimester b/c coffee makes me gag but once that passes I drink a cup a day and on the weekends I'll sometimes have 2 or 3 Smile

2-3 cups a day is okay, once you are past the 1st trimester. Smile

I drink it and I always have with all of my pregnancies. I haven't had any problems, I have low blood pressure normally.

I brew myself a gorgeous half-caf in the morning (half decaf and half regular). That way I don't feel guilty if I have another cup during the day. While I'm at the office though i normally brew myself a lovely strong decaf because I just love my coffee. With these new gizmos lately it's easy to get a good strong delicious cup of decaf. At home I have Senseo and at work Tassimo and Keurig. Not thrilled with Tassimo though as our only options seem to be Nabob or Starbucks. Pre-preg I was having 3-4 cups regular a day and had weaned myself back a bit while TTC.

Yep, that's whats on the paperwork my doc gave me. (I figured out that is like 8-10 sodas a day! Who drinks that much, really? :o ) I try to do decaf when I have the craving. Thank goodness Starbucks Pumpkin Spice comes in decaf.....

I drink coffee every now and then, but not as a pick me up. Coffee has never really done anything for me, I would just drink it because I liked the taste lol... but I have cut back since I became pregnant. I'll still occasionally induldge in Starbucks, but I like iced coffee. I haven't cut back because I think it's bad for baby, but because it makes him go a little crazy in there (which is probably a sign that it's bad for him lol)!!
