Contractions?

What do contractions feel like? This morning I had some period/ovulation-esque cramps that woke me up...not sure if that was some BH or just more ligament pain.

Side note: Matt FELT and SAW Carter moving last night! WOOOOOO! Yahoo

I get a lot of BHs. They were actually showing them to me on my u/s at 18 weeks. Sometimes they feel kind of crampy but not painful - my round ligaments are painful though! But mostly I notice the giant hard uterus. It's when you can best see exactly how high my uterus is b/c it gets all hard and you can see it's outline, especially if I'm laying down

It can be hard to tell. But yes, during a contraction you should be able to feel your whole uterus tighten and harden. Right now the top of your uterus should be a couple inches above your belly button.

Could be BH too Biggrin

Also, BH are generally not painful, whereas real contractions are more painful.

I sometimes get random cramping too, that goes away after a short while.

Woohoo for baby movement! It's so fun to see it from the outside!

I have not felt anything that could be BH or contractions. Actually I did not with my last PG either. I hope I don't get to nervous if I do.

That is great that DH saw movement. My DH has felt movement but has not seen it...I don't think. Baby girl tends to be extremely active that I can see it outside during the night and when DH is at work. Hopefully soon he will see it too.

It sounds like they were BH... the real ones are the worst period cramps imaginable... times ten! Congrats on seeing baby move through your belly, how exciting!

I started getting contractions at 16 weeks and to me the feeling was fairly obvious and not at all cramp-like. The entire belly gets very hard and everything literally contracts, making me feel like I need to curl up a bit. At home, I felt most comfortable getting on the couch on my hands and knees to wait it out. Now that I'm not allowed to exercise I barely get them. When I do, it's a hardly-noticeable tightening of the belly.

ETA: As others said, these BH aren't painful, but the big ones are super obnoxious and definitely uncomfortable.
