Diapers...

Are any of you ladies going to be cloth diapering? We use cloth with Kay and I love it, we will also be using the same cloth diapers we have for the new baby, we just have to pick up some more.

We use mainly the flip diapers and then we use bumGenius for night time Smile

Anybody else use cloth or going to?

I'm planning on cloth, with a pretty strong focus on elimination communication! I bought 24 pocket diapers and 48 inserts a few weeks back. It feels AMAZING to have that part of the baby's preparations taken care of.

I'll go half bum genius and have disposables. My dh doesn't do cloth so well have them both on Gand.

Teach DH to! SO has managed the fine art of cloth diapering with DS, as has the rest of the family. I made them do it!!

Def not for me... I have enough laundry to do with five people in the house lol!

Honestly I thought the laundry was going to be a little overwhelming as well and really it isn't.

And I'm really lucky because Rob was on board from the very beginning, and actually he can change a cloth diaper almost faster then me. lol.

I also would never be able to handle the laundry since I can't even get my own clothes washed (my boyfriend has taken care of all of the laundry and dishes since I found out I'm pregnant!) I absolutely would like to try cloth diapers, though, so I think I'll give it a shot with a service. Any thoughts on using a diaper service and having (a double dose of) stinky diapers around for a week?

I will most likely use mainly cloth with the little one. I use mostly cloth with ds, and dh surprised me this afternoon by getting Jack up from his nap and putting a cloth diaper on him! (It was a bamboo fitted, and he didn't know it needed a cover, but it was a GREAT attempt at least, and he got lots of praises and thank you's for that!) I use dispaosables with Jack at night because he's a super soaker and I can't find something that won't leak...

I have a couple of hemp/bamboo prefolds coming from a friend who makes diapers, I also have some econobum prefolds and some pockets that I'll use for her, and once she gets bigger I'll use some of the more neutral fitteds that I have. I also really like flats, and have a bunch to tie dye, and a bunch that I have tie dyed already. They hide stains nicely that way! Smile If I can get my sewing machine to work, or get a better one, I may try making some fitteds because I really like them.

Oh, I forgot, I also like the flip system, and will most likely get a few more of them and a few of the gro-via hybrid system.

I am all over the place with my diaper preferences.

I've heard its no problem - all the diaper services I've been exposed to do deliveries and pick-ups in a fresh, sterilized pail that seals well. You get a good whiff when you open the pail, but the rest of the time smell is a non-issue.

That being said, I think that the idea of diaper service rocks, especially for the first few weeks/months postpartum. We'd be doing it but there is only one company in Portland and they aren't a good deal/good product Sad

Anne, the tie-dying diapers idea rocks!
