Im thinking of buying one this time around I found one on ebay for 52.99. Does anyone else have one and do you think its worth the money?
i would really suggest NOT getting one. i rented one when i was pg with my son. it caused so much unnecessary stress for me. you really can't hear anything with those things until way after they say you can. and you will hear the heartbeat in a different place each time and maybe drive yourself nuts searching for that heartbeat.
i'm not sure that's what you wanted to hear but if i can save anyone money or undue stress than i will! plus, in just a few weeks after that you'll be able to feel the baby moving so you'll definitely not need the doppler!
you know nancy your right. the computer says I will start to hear the heartbeat around 12 weeks and then i will feel the baby move shortly after. I think I might just keep my money in my pocket.
i really think that's a good idea. i got myself worked up SO many times because of that stupid doppler! i will definitely not be doing that again!
I have some friends that loved having it and had a great time with it. Others it just stressed them out. I have thought about it but too worried that I would be the one who was stressed out. I still have not decided what I will do.
I bougt one last year and was convinced I heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks....turns out now it was probably my heartbeat I heard....
They are proper stress inducers...although if it still works I will probably try and use mine in a month or so...because I'm a glutton for pun ishment.
yeah i know myself if i couldnt find it i would probably just stress myself out
I thought about getting one, but I am already a paranoid mess, so maybe I will pass too!
I just got mine off of Ebay, the Sonoline B. Of course I had to use it right away and could hear a heartbeat. Maybe it's beginner's luck? I'm 9 weeks now. I was hesitant about getting it but with this pregnancy, I've not been feeling well at all, so it's for "peace of mind". What I mean is that I feel like I have a flu most days versus morning sickness, just a general blah feeling. Anyway, it's pretty neat gadget and I promised DH I would not go crazy with it, just only on occasion.
I have a sonoline B that I got off ebay and I love it!! Saved me a lot of stress when I had some bleeding last week. I even found the hb at 9 weeks. The first time I found something, I thought it was the baby, but it was actually my own hb. I then watched a youtube video of this lady demonstrating how to use it and found the baby's hb right away. I recommend getting one! I got it just for fun, but like I said, after my scare on Thursday I had never been so thankful for having one.
Jennifer (jac81), if you still have the link for the video I'll be forever grateful. I actually read your post on how to use the doppler, thanks for that.
Found it! She explains the different types of sounds you will hear which was so helpful to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHJKPV6p-Ao
I have heard that a lot of devices sold as dopplers are really just amplifiers. I dont haveany experience either way. My ob for#2 was against dopplers, i never heard the hbthe whole pregnancy. He said it really isnt the hb you hear it is just the sound waves bouncing off the beating heart(which yea is how it works), but still i wanted to hear it.
i recently saw something in passing online that said it isnt healthy to do the doppler too often. I didnt pay attention though bc i know my ob doesnt do it.
Great video, thanks! I heard the dying cat sound, so it wasn't the HB I heard, silly me! I'll give it another go but I see my doc Wednesday anyway, so one more try then I'll give it a rest for awhile.
I probably would have argued with that doctor if he was mine, but then again I'm just hormonal and would argue with a chair. LOL! With the fact that my son gets echocardiograms which is basically an u/s on his heart then I would have to argue that is the same thing. Its just soundwaves that bounce off and give you an image and in the doctors explanation "sound". A heartbeat is a heartbeat even if its just the soundwaves bouncing off of it. How does the doctor make sure the baby is ok each month if he doesn't believe in dopplers?
He does regular u/s every appt He also has one of those horn things that mws sometimes have.
