Gift for midwives?

I realized that I should probably give each member of my team of midwives a gift...

for those of you who've had children before and have had good relationships with your physician, midwife or doula, what sort of gift did you give? I'm just not sure what would be appropriate....

I never actually gave anything to my midwife last time, how horrible does that sound! I think I was caught up in having a newborn and forgot about everything else.

This time I think I will organise dbf to get some flowers and chocs once baby is here. Maybe i'll write that down now!

I read on someone's personal blog that she made queen sized quilts for her two midwives! Yikes... I know I won't be doing THAT much work. But I might make something (knitted socks) that can keep me from going nuts in those last couple weeks...

looking back i should have gotten something for the nurses at the hospital. my uncle mentioned how when his third was born he ran out to go get something for them and i thought, "whoops, i totally didn't even think about that."

a quilt??? wow! that is very thoughtful. socks would be nice. i like homemade stuff.

i wouldn't do flowers only because i know alot of hospitals (will you be at a hospital with a midwife? i don't know!) don't want you to bring flowers because of the cooties that they could potentially bring. i remember there was a no flower policy at the hospital when thomas was born.

edible arrangement...yum!!! or maybe some other edible goodies? tho they may not be thrilled if they are dieting!

We gave each of the drs and the home mw birth announcements. My normal gyn (not tthe delivering one) and his receptionist were given a small floral arrangement.
The mws and staff at the hospital were each given a tip.
At my first birth I can't remember doing anything more than birth announcements.

At my mws office, thye make and sell baby wool socks, so check first to make sure they don't already have them, kwim?

I won't be giving them anything. Last time however I gave a 50$ donation to Ronald mcdonald house in the names of the L&d staff. It helps give the families who have to travel far with their sick babies a place to stay, and personally I think this iss better than flowers or even a card that will be thrown away. Well do the same thing this time.

I would just send them to their office after the baby comes!
