Hostage taking

I went to drop my dd off at daycare today and couldn't figure out there were about twenty police cars parked in front. As I drove up I saw the police SWAT team
circling the building guns out. I drove right on by...

Apparently there was an armed robbery and hostage taking at the jewellery store that share a wall. Everything turned out ok but Melodie got the day off.

Scary!!! We live in one of the safest neighbourhoods in Canada. Guess times are a changing.

Definitely scary! Just this morning there was a man and woman here in Vegas at a Walmart trying to buy crap with a fake credit card. The police were called and instead of just backing down quietly the guy pulled out a gun and shot one of the cops! Of course he was fired back on and killed (thankfully the cop is OK)... but it's just crazy the day and age that we live in! And just one week ago a 15 year old girl was walking home from school and some lunatic grabbed her, raped her, stabbed her over 40 times, then set her body on fire in the middle of a field... and again this happened right here in Vegas! I swear it's enough to make me not even let my kids ride their bikes on our own street anymore... it's just not worth it.

That is a scary thing to walk in to, especially being that close to your child's daycare!

Krystal...Idk how you can live in Vegas! That is too much violence for me. I'd be terrified!

So glad your timing was good so Melodie was with you! It's horrible how desperate these criminals must be these days that they have to put so many at risk and have no regard for others or themselves. I don't know how mental a person would have to be to try and rob a jewellery store in the first place, but to then take a hostage? Yay for SWAT teams! I generally avoid 'the news' I find it all so depressing.

Trust me, if I wasn't upside down in my house (like every homeowner in Las Vegas is right now) I would pack up and go far far away! I hate it here. I've been here on and off since I was ten years old and I'm done. California would be the best, because that's where all of the art jobs are for DH, but I know he'd probably want to go back to Idaho where his other boys are. I wouldn't mind that I suppose... as long as we could live in Twin Falls, where there's at least a mall lol! Where he's from (Burley) the only thing to do there is go to Walmart!
