I am thankful

After my post about being down in the dumps about money I decided that I needed to turn my outlook around and find things that I am thankful for.

I may have to take my lunch to work every day, but I'm thankful I can buy groceries.

I don't get to go out with my girlfriends and shop like I used to, but I am thankful I can keep the water running and the lights on.

I don't live in a big expensive house, but I am thankful for the little house that I bought on my own with my money.

I don't drive a brand new car, but I am thankful that I have a safe reliable car and that even though it was a struggle, I am able to pay to keep it up.

I have student loans that I have to pay off, but I am thankful and proud of the Bachelor's degree that I poured my blood, sweat, and tears in.

My job isn't the most glamorous in the world since I have to deal with poop, puke, pee, and other bodily functions, but I am thankful to have a career that allows me to nurture the human spirit.

I can't wear my favorite strappy sandles any more, I feel as big as a house, and haven't pooped in 2 days, but I am so thankful and truly blessed for the healthy, squirmy baby boy that I am carrying.

Good points. Your budget will adjust. I remember freaking out about $ with Ds. There is not as much freak out factor with #2 for us this time. 2 in daycare will be alot of $$, but we LOVE our school/daycare and think it is $ well spent since we see Ds thrive. It will all work out Smile

Good for you for being so positive!

We all need a little "count your blessings" exercise every once in a while!

Jen, thanks for posting this! I swear as I was reading this everything that you said is happening in my life too (except the school loans are DH's... but it's still our bill!). I try and stay positive, but it is hard at times... especially when the problem is money.

Great post Smile I'm a firm believer it's ok to give yourself moments of self pity but it's also important to pick yourself up and realize all the things you have to be thankful for and not let yourself get too caught up in the poor me thing. Thanks for the reminder Smile

Wonderful post, Jeni! It's always good to remind ourselves what we are thankful/grateful for! I do this everyday in my morning and evening meditations... and when those pregnancy hormones get the best of me! Smile

I agree....it is so important to be thankful for the little things...they really do add up. Good way to look at things.
