Labour

How are you feeling about labour? Since this is my second time I know what to expect but I am still apprehensive. I wish I didn't have an induction date, i'd rather the pain was a surprise and not know exactly when it was coming kwim?

I am feeling nervous as well even though it's my 3rd time. Do you EVER get used to it? Wink

I am wondering how my labour will start this time - with DD my water broke 2 days BEFORE my due date, and I was in labour for 23 hours before she was born. With DS I finally started contracting 10 days AFTER my due date, and I only laboured for 10 hours before he was born.

It was nice with DD because since my water broke, I knew "this was it"! It's hard when you start contracting to know if it's the real thing!

I hope my labour is as short or shorter than with DS! I also really hope I continue to get more effective in my pushing. With DD I pushed for 2 hours, with DS for 50 minutes. I always envy those ladies who only push 3-4 times and baby comes out!

I'm feeling pretty good. I know a lot of our natural birth class that begins this weekend (birthing from within) will be focused on working through fears.I'm confident I'll be in a good spot by the time the class ends at 37 weeks.

If I had to identify a fear, it would be that he'll be sunnyside up. Or weeks of prodomal labor.

I am feeling pretty good with labour and delivery. With dd I laboured a long time (with contractions), but hard labour was only a few hours and only an hour of pushing. With ds, my total time was 4hrs from first contraction until he was out. I think I pushed for about 10mins. This one my goal is just to make it to the hospital before babe is born! LOL. I am told that as soon as I get my first contraction I have to head in... speaking of that, I really should arrange who is going to take the kids when I go into labour.. I am not looking forward to the pain, but its such a precious gift I'm receiving, I'm actually looking forward to it, kwim? Smile But, I don't like the fact of the anticipation of going into labour... not knowing when it will start. I'm a huge planner... but I like going naturally rather than being induced (although I've never experienced that before).... does that make sense?

I'm going in for a repeat c section. I am nervous about the recovery, and I am nervous about the needles going into my back. I remember HEARING (or at least thinking I heard it) the needle puncturing my back when it was going in for the epidural. I think that's the scariest part for me.

I'm such a ninny I faint at the sight of blood and needles... I am terrified of the pain I know I can do it and I dont really have a choice now lol Smile but some of the pain I have now scares me as to what labour will be like. Above all of that I'm really scared of Pre E and LO coming this month instead of oct or even his original due date nov... My nexts OB app is tuesday and wish me luck that she will say my protein level went down and everything is great(no hospital or at home bed rest anymore Smile please please) Thank goodness my DH and BFF will be there to support me!

The IV is definitely the worst for me. The idea of having a foreign object in me is beyond intolerable. As for being a wus, I faint at needles and yet I wanted the contractions to stop so much the epidural didn't really bother me!

Fearful of labor.

Another fear is making sure we get one of our friends to watch DS who is 3 when we are there. He is going to be confused and upset, I know it.

Awww, your poor DS! That's why I am so grateful both our families live nearby (my IL's only live 3 km away) to watch the kids when DH and I go to the hospital.

Maybe you should do some practice runs and get him used to staying with your friends for a little while at a time.

He is very protective of me. When I had to go to L&D at 20 weeks and he went to our friends house he was upset and kept saying "I want to go to the hospital with you, are you ok???" We are going to have to start preparing him that he won't be able to come to the hospital until after the baby is born. Poor baby!

Aww, what a sweet boy! My DD was a little upset when I told her she couldn't come. I told her only doctors and Daddies were allowed to come with me to the hospital, but she could come visit me once the baby came out. She's still a little sad, but I think I got the point across. I told her no kids were allowed Wink

We are making him a big brother bag with a Worlds Best Big Brother frame and a few small toys. Hopefully that will help him too Smile

It's my fifth and all I can say is..

I don't like it.
I won't do it.
They can't make me.
I've got a little more time to figure out how to get this little guy out that doesn't involve pushing or cutting. I'm thinking teleport right now.
