Lets talk about weight...

Can I get an "ugh" up in here?

How is eating healthy, exercise and fitness going for all of you?

I seriously don't know how you fit BTDT Mamas do it. Walking, sure but I've got NO idea how I'll be able to get back into weight training, yoga classes or more serious cardio.

I'm back to pre-pregnancy weight, but I was overweight to begin with and I'm not sure how much fat nursing will melt off since I'm not a great producer of milk.

Any tips or insights? Biggrin

I'm only a few days PP here so I haven't done much yet. I gained like 50 lbs.....I'm down 20 of it just from having the little giant. I will probably stick to walking/jogging since i have a treadmill and can do it at home and for free. With Evan I weighed myself once a week starting 1 week PP and continued to until I was back to Pre preg weight. It kept me motivated. TOok about 3 months I imagine it might be a little longer this time

I'm 5 pounds below my prepregnancy weight but my belly does not look the same! It is loose and jiggly. Ew. Now that I'm 6 weeks pp I'm going to start doing crunches on my yoga ball and maybe take a mommy and me class with Carter. Bounce back fast: postnatal core conditioning by befit mom is a work out dvd that I'm planning on buying. As far as motivation goes...all I have to do is look in the mirror after my shower.

Ick I have 30 lbs to lose! it took me a long time to do it last time. My body hangs onto weight when I bf. Of course I'm not a lucky one who drops weight when bf'ing!!

I signed up to run a marathon this January back in march. And the next day found out I was pregnant. So I'm deferring til January 2013 and will get back to running after my six week pp checkup. Until then I'm not doing much - I'm still pretty sore down there!

I'm a Nana...so things are a bit different for me, but I too have the treadmill at home and this makes it possible to have a routine! I enjoy the time to myself to think over the day as I walk.

Well I'm wearing real jeans today and loving it! Of course they are the jeans I bought post partum with Evan 1-2 sizes bigger than normal.....and my belly flops over them....but they have a button and a zipper and it feels like progress haha

I haven't even weighed myself since the birth at all, so I have no idea how much I weigh! I'm not quite 2 weeks PP though. I should jump on the Wii Fit and have it weigh me, now I am curious!

I am really hoping BFing helps me lose the weight this time. It will be tough during the rest of the winter to be active, but once the summer comes again I can spend more time outside and being active. Does chasing 3 kids around count?

I am down 20 lbs from my "going to the hospital weight", and 17 lbs from my pre preggo weight with Trinity. I am down 7 lbs from my pre preggo weight with Jack. And I am fitting into size 14 pants...haven't been able to wear them in 3.5 years. Granted, my belly is looking like a half deflated helium balloon, and its quite jiggly. Oh well. At least I have a waist again. I was chubby to start with, and I would like to get back down to 145 (another 23 lbs). My boobs are huger than usual though...thank you nursing!
I am going to start walking on my treadmill next week, a few times a week, for like 30 minutes at a time. I'm going to start training for a 5k (maybe 15k) that takes place in July once I get the clear from my doc to do that.

OoOooo Boilermaker? DH has done that 4 or 5 times and he hasn't since we had Evan but we were thinking about giving it a shot to train for that. I have no idea if I could handle a 15K though LOL My sister got ALL the running genes in my family -- she was an All American in HS and ran Division 1 track all through college. I got NONE of the genetics for it but I mean who doesn't love a race that ends at with beer? I'm pretty sure DH will be able to do it if he puts in a little time but he tends to be far more fit than I am!

Yes--the boilermaker!!! I did the 5k after Jack was born. It was AWESOME!!! nothing better than drinking free Saranac beer at 8:30 am after a nice run!

I'd love to try the 15k. A local tv station has a training program and I am going to apply for it. I just need to make sure I have someone to watch the kids for the training runs. Smile

I'm trying to get dh to train for the 5k.

My hat is off to you ladies who like to run. I personally hate running and consider it cruel and unusual punishment. Wink I do better with low impact exercises. I recently discovered I like yoga. The stretching feels amazing.

I don't enjoy running at all but I have yet to find anything else that really makes my body look good. Yoga or Pilates might - I have a friend who swears by Pilates - but I'll never do it at home and have negative time for classes. The treadmill seems to be the easiest way to get back in shape for me. I'm one of those people who looks like a heaving huffing hot mess when I run. But it does tone me up.....and if I can make myself do it for a few weeks I go from HATING it to kind of not minding it LOL

I'm not sure in this department... I've been too scared to step on a scale lol! I know that I'll be starting the low carb lifestyle as soon as the holidays are over, so that should help things out! And I'm going to buy a treadmill for my house, much easier than going to the gym!
