Monday QOTD:

What food/beverage are you most looking forward to having after giving birth? Any special treats you will request?

I always have DH pick me up a Blizzard from DQ after giving birth! Having some creamy delicious icecream is the perfect regenerator for me after labor! I'm sure something healthier would be much more practical, but icecream sure hits the spot!

I'm going to be that girl, who mentions booze and coffee.

Yup, I want an elegant cocktail. But I'll be breastfeeding, so it won't happen for a while.

I am not restricting myself either, but I DO look forward to the all- you- can- eat room service at the hospital I will be staying at. Is it bad that I am looking forward to is like it will be vacation? My own room, my TV, room service and nurses taking care of me... I do take advantage.

Jasmine, after a week or two if you are able to get at least o e bottle in reserve, you can have your cocktail then pump and dump!!! I'll be doing that on at least a couple of occasions before Christmas.

I love being taken care of Smile I know most people like to get out of the hospital right away, but I like to stay for at least 2 days! Just me, new baby, and food delivered to my bed! Biggrin

DH got me Wendy's after Evan was born, it was the best Wendy's EVER lol

But wine. I love wine! And fall beers! I love them too! I've already decided we'll keep a 6 pack of pumpkin beer on hand b/c it's one of my favorites and I'll miss it if we don't grab a 6 pack.

As long as I know I have over an hour between feedings I don't worry about 1 beer or a small glass of wine while nursing.....the first few weeks when Evan crazy cluster fed it didn't work out but by 6 weeks or so we had a fairly stable routine and I could have one with dinner if I wanted and I didn't worry at all. I know others don't drink at all while nursing.....I'm not one of them LOL But I do limit myself to 1 or I give him bottles of pre-pumped.

Beer!!! Lol this all depends on how long I BF though! I always hated beer and the year before I got pregnant my taste seemed to change and I really started to like it and loved ordering one when we would go out to dinner. As far as food goes I'll be glad to eat sushi again, but I'm pretty sure I'll be going on Atkins right after to get rid of the extra weight!

WINE. I really want a glass of wine so bad but I've been good and restrained myself. I will probably wait until he's nursing less frequently though, like at least every 4 hours, so that I have time for the alcohol to get out of my system.

Not realy sure for food as I don't have an appetite now so I don't really crave anything. I just look forward to eating when I want and how much I want without worrying about my sugars. But I do have to agree...I can't wait to have a beer and clamato juice. I am not a big drinker but on hot summer days I love to have one when we are camping and I have missed having one this summer.

Oh good. I am glad I am not the only one who mentions booze!! haha! I love a good beer. I will probably pick up a 6 pack of my favorite beer (Smuttynose brewery, Shoals Pale Ale) and keep it in the fridge for a bit. I am not afraid to do the pump n dump if I need to. I have missed having an ice cold Miller high life on these HOT summer days, for sure.

I am also looking forward to actually enjoying eating chicken again. I haven't been able to stomach it (unless its processed popcorn chicken) this whole pregnancy. Chickens are gross creatures when you think about it.

just want to mention quickly that you can still have beer and wine even if you're breastfeeding! no, you can't get DRUNK and nurse your child but there's definitely no harm in nursing the baby and then having a drink. not trying to promote alcohol but just saying it's a-ok to have a drinkypoo.

i've been having a drink here and there throughout the pregnancy. i had a decaf irish coffee on sunday. it was a post-hurricane irene celebratory drink. i've had a guinness here and there too. so i guess that's why i didn't choose booze as what i want most after the baby's born. hehe.

oh you know what i'm looking forward to? laying comfortably on my back and not feeling like i can't breathe. what i'm not looking forward to? waking up in a pool of leaked milk :puke2:
