Naps

I know all babies are different, and Emerson is on the young side of our November babies, but I can't believe his daytime sleep schedule. I thought he'd be staying awake for longer periods, but he still needs to nap between EVERY feeding. Does anyone else's LO still nap between every feeding?

Ex.
Breastfeed at 8:30
Awake happy until 9:30
Gets tired, I put him to sleep
Wakes up to eat at 10:30

This means he has like, 9 - 45 minute naps a day! I would love for him to take a longer nap, but he's still eating about every 2 hours and he is too tired to stay up for the whole 2 hours between feedings. I know eventually he will start going longer, but I thought he'd be starting to stretch it out a bit.

What do your babes do during the day?

At night he is still eating every 2-3 hours, but at least he goes right back to sleep......most of the time.......;)

IF Rory stays up for longer periods he's generally over tired and miserable. I hate to say this but I keep waiting for him to be a happier baby. He's very cranky when he's awake beyond like 45 minutes and he fights sleep which only compounds the problem. Rory is younger than E but your schedule sounds a lot like ours - just add in cranky crying fits in between!

Well I'm glad he's not the only one. Emerson is hard to get to sleep too - why do they fight it so much! He never falls asleep on his own except in the car. I'm always rocking him, and at night he sleeps in my arms pretty much. During the day he wakes up when I don't hold him too.

Thankfully he isn't really all that cranky, but I can tell he is tired after only 45 minutes of being awake too! That's when he starts to fuss.

I was so spoiled by my first he was a good sleeper and a very content baby. Rory is...not LOL He has recently started sleeping in the swing though which is nice. Mostly though he wants to be in my arms - but not in bed. He doesn't even sleep well in our bed which blows my mind b/c even on his crankiest day, teething etc Evan would always settle in bed with me. Rory....not so much. I know it will pass though, babyhood goes by quickly and it will be a blur b/c I'm so sleep deprived Wink

This is us, too, sometimes. Carter's naps are all over the place since he got his 2month shots. He's gotten off the lovely schedule that we've been on. Sometimes he takes a nap for 45 minutes...sometimes for 3 hours. I keep telling myself that he is still a little baby and that what may be normal for him one day may be completely different the next.

Trystans schedule goes something like this: wake up around eight to eat, and stay up until ten or eleven. Nap for two hours then wake to eat again, he does this until around six in the evening, when he likes to cluster feed about every hour until around ten when he finally knocks out for the night. Of course, he wakes to eat around 2am and then again at 6am... Then it starts all over again. This schedule is when I'm working though... If I'm off he pretty much doesnt sleep, so mommy never gets to nap!

Q is a bit older, but he still generally sleeps after a feeding. My kids almost always fell asleep after eating though.

See, Emerson doesn't nurse to sleep. His awake time is right after feeding, THEN he sleeps before he eats again. I sort of wish he'd fall asleep nursing!

After having my first my sister [goodheartedly] offered the advice that I needed to get my,then >2wk old on a schedule, eat, poop, then sleep. I thought she was crazy because my kid just wouldn't do that. She was only eat, sleep, poop and the next two seemed to follow that Lol Even my oldest to this day wants to sleep after eating. Maybe we can switch schedules? Smile

Gianni is starting to be awake more after during the day and he sleeps wonderful during the night because he sleeps with me. His naps during the day range from 20 mins. To 2 hours. But he is usually happy when he is awake and when he's not, his older brothers entertain him if Im busy. We are going out of town this weekend so Im curious to see if he effected or not. This will be our first time going out of town.

We've stayed at Matt's parents house several times and Carter has spent the night at my mom's house a few times too. I was afraid that he would not sleep in an unfamiliar environment but he showed me! He did just fine. Post an update on how Gianni did with his sleep!

We got to San Antonio around 3 and he ate and took a nap just fine in his swiw threw out the day but it seems like he woke up more often at night. That or I just didn't sleep very well because I'm exhausted today! We will see how today goes, we were out this morning and got back around noon he was asleep the whole time we were gone so he has been awake ever since we got home.

Well it sounds like he did pretty well then! I have a baby brother who is 19 years (!!!!!!) younger than me. I remember one year my whole family went to Gatlinburg when he was and infant and he cried and cried all night long. It was awful and that was the longest weekend ever! I still remembered that incident when we took Carter to spend the night away from home for the first time. I was nervous of something like that happening to him. So...I'm glad Gianni slept, even if he woke up more often. At least he wasn't up all night screaming Wink

We just got back from a week at my parent's house and Laszlo slept like a champ! As long as he gets to smoosh his face into my armpit/boob, he's a happy guy Smile

But he is a huge napper still, fwiw - he sleeps between every feed still and then does two five-hour stretches at night with just a little breastfeed in between!

wow that makes Parker seem like an :angel10: Parkers still eats every two hour when he is awake but he sleeps all night long. we try to get him down by 10pm but that doesnt always work most of the time it is closer to midnight. then he gets up around 10 am Smile and is up till 2pm takes a nap which varies everyday as to how long he stays down and then we do it all over again. he has to be rocked to sleep by me ugh makes it hard when we dont have a rocker.. my husband would rock him to sleep but he falls asleep before parker does lol then they end up sleeping on the couch and both of them get cranky!
