need advice

Ok, so I am due on 11/11/11, next Friday. My last day at work is SUnday. However, I can come in next week if I don't go into labor. My next appt is Monday at 3pm. Doc said we can talk about an induction then. So, if I don't go into labor this weekend, should I go to work next week or not??? I am so tired and miserable I am leaning towards no. But, I would like to save my sick and vacation time. I asked DH if he would want to go to lunch before the appt on Monday if I took the day off. One thing that worries me is that if I am at the office, the hospital is 45-60 min away!! I f I start having really bad contrax I am a bit worried about how I will be able to drive!!!!!!

I would be tempted to say stay at home. I know you want all your time off with baby, but if you are already uncomfortable and miserable, it might be nice to just spend the next week relaxing and preparing for baby. I'd hate to think of you at work having to drive for an hour with contractions!

I guess it just depends on how important saving that time off is to you.

Maybe just go in to work on Monday and wait to see what the doc says at your appt. Then you could take the rest of the week off.

Good luck!

I will personally be working up until I give birth. With Evan I worked my 39th week but not my 40th. I left work on Friday and had him the following Thurs BUT I wasn't planning on going back so it wasn't such a big deal. This time I get 12 weeks and I'll definitely go back and if I take time w/o baby I know I'll regret it. So I'm dragging myself in. That being said I work behind a desk, I don't do anything physically demanding so I know my body can handle it. I also don't think my contractions will come on suddenly so strongly that I can't manage a 40 minute drive to my hospital. I was in labor all night at home with Evan so I doubt it would be a huge problem if I started to notice something regular I'd cut out and be safe even if it was a false alarm.

if you can, i'd say go into work. that way you can have more time at home once the baby is born. as much as it would be nice to take some time off from work, do you really think you'd take it easy? i find that we moms tend to not relax when we should!!

what is your job like? are you on your feet? if you're more sedentary at work that might be more relaxing than being at home - when i was on partial bedrest with my first i found myself finding every excuse to get up and do things. and even now if DH takes DS to the park or something i wind up cleaning something instead of relaxing!

If I did stay at home, I would sleep in a bit and take a nap but I would clean clean clean!!!

My job is a desk job doing computer models. I have finished eveything I need to before leave as well. So people pretty much just leave me alone. I was thinking Monday would be a good day for DH and I to have a lunch together w/o DS before the baby comes.

If this baby came before MOnday I would not have to worry about it LOL He is not cooperating!!!

That's definitely a decision only you can make! I'm also working up until the day that I have him, but only because I don't have any other choice. I'm only taking two weeks off (that's how much vacation/sick time I have) and then it's back to work for me, as I can't afford to take any more time off than that. But if you can afford it, I would just let this be your last week so that you can rest and prepare for baby!

If you essentially have all your work done I'd still keep dragging myself in, if I were you. You should have a very light last week and that is more time you'll have off with your baby.

I second this, also because I think keeping busy can really help. I've been going a little nuts being overdue without the ability to commit to new projects.

I agree with going in if you can. Having as many moments with baby before you head back to work would be worth it. See how it goes next week...who knows baby may be here Smile
