QOTD - Names!

Hello Ladies,
I thought it would be fun to do a random question of the day (QOTD)!

What are some of your favorite names that DH/SO/family hated? Names that you LOVE but will probably never be able to use?

I LOVE:

Eero (pronounced Arrow)
Lazarus
Pilar
Zaika
Archer

Bella Monroe if our baby would have been a girl! DH hated it but I didn't care! Oh well, now we're on the search for the perfect boy name, and I'm picking it!

Carter, Connor, Peter, Ewan/Ethan/Owen are all too close to Evan for me but I like them, Liam.....needless to say DH and I don't agree on boys names AT ALL LOL If this kid is a boy we joke we'll just go with Evan #2

I like the name Robin for a boy, but DH would never go for it.

I just think it would be extra cute because DH's name is Christopher...... Christopher...Robin!

Perhaps he doesn't want any Winnie the Pooh references? LOL

I'm due in November, but am only a lurker (pregnancy problems -- an introduction and reasons for my lurking will be explained in a seperate thread, I'm sure!)

I'm feeling a bit more comfortable posting about this pregnancy, however -- and I couldn't resist the Names thread!

My son is named Cable. Pronounced just like the common word. People hated it and would sometimes go out of their way to let me know. At my baby shower, my grandmother decorated a cards envelope with baby boy names in hopes that I would see one of those that "I liked better".

Long story short, my husband and I loved it and that was all it took to confidently declare it his name on the birth certificate at the hospital. My son is nearly two years old now, and those friends and family that hated it now love it! It's one of those eccentric names that you have to "get used to".

(Feel free to consider it if you love it as much as I do!)

Other boy names we like are:

Adam, Orion, Moby, Oliver, Atticus, Ulysses (our son's middle name), Declan, Felix, Liam, Noah, Quentin, Ronan, Rogan.

Girl names we like: Adele, Vera, Olivia/Olive, Madison...and one very unusual name that is a secret for now (we are picking it if we are having a girl -- which we will find out on Monday!)

Hi Jen! I remember you and Cable from wayyy back on the STIF thread! So glad you're in Nov 11 and things are going well! I love the name Cable but I doubt DH would agree. He's such a boring namer....sigh....

Me & DH like Irish names, but most of the good ones have already been taken by someone else in his family. Liam, Declan, Shane, Fergal, Niall, all taken. I like Brendan also, but the last name starts with M and I didn't want him to have the initials BM, lol.

For girls names, I always wanted to name a girl Una but DH hates it. I like Nora too, but DH hates it. I like Bridget too, but again I don't want the initials BM. I think it will be a challenge deciding on names this time...

ADORABLE!

I was talking to this really nice FTM with a month old little girl in the waiting room at my birth center on Thursday. She said her husband agreed that "since he got to pick the last name, so she got to pick the first name." I was like "Who is this man and why am I not dating him?" Just kidding! ROFL

I also forgot... really early on in the pregnancy we agreed on the name Blaise for a little boy (pronounced Blaze). Looked it up and found out it means "stuttering," at which point SO vetoed it. I still love it, but I respect his right to veto based on meaning.

I LOVE keegan or Keelan and Dh just hates them for no good reason at all. It's so sad. they are my favorites. And I really love Bridgit and Adalyn and DH loves Bridgit but his last name starts with Br so I think thats lame. And he hates Adalyn so we compromised with Addison I think. What a battle!!

For the longest time, with my previous pregs, I liked Adonis for a boy and Destiny for a girl. DH hated both names! LOL.

This time around, we only have a name for a girl (I still might use Destiny for a middle name...LOL!). If I'm having a boy, it's gonna be a long long road towards deciding a name.

My son's name is Rogan!

I like Autumn for a girl, but my DH hates it. He likes Morgan for a boy, but I think that is a girl's name.

I like unusual and/ or Galiec names, espically for boys, but DH is all hung up on using HIS family names for a boy. NOPE!!!! This baby gets his family name- his last name. So I get to choose the rest. Biggrin

I am thinking either George Christian or George Henry for a boy. I am not sure if DH likes them, but I really want a baby named after my daddy, who is very sick right now.
For a girl, I like Ann Margaret or Margaret Ann. Those are family names on both sides, so that's an easy comprimise.

With DD my mother, well, the whole family HATED the name Corinne (pronounced 'Core-rinn'). They thought it sounded too ethnic (It's actuatly French or Greek depending on how you spell it). Well guess what? We have a beautiful little girl named Corinne! Now everyone thinks it's a beautiful name!

The funny thing is with DD, I thought I had a name all picked out until I found out the gender for sure, then I panicked and was all over the map!LOL!
