Reflux

So I have noticed since Gianni was born that after every feeding he spits up- a lot. Like almost an ounce maybe more. And after he spits up he acts like he is hungry because he has lost so much milk. Also when I lay him down he gets this gurgling sound unless he is upright. I have mentioned to his dr. That he spits up a lot but she said its probably because he is just over eating. But now I'm starting to think its more than that. I haven't dealt with reflux in a baby so I don't know what the systems are but it does run in my family, I mean everyone has it in my immediate family. Anyone dealt with reflux in a baby? And does this sound like it could it be it or just the normal spit up?

Are you BF? My first three babies were formula fed, and they always had tons of spit up when they burped, like EVERY time I burped them. With Trystan (he's been exclusively BF since birth) he's maybe spit up two or three times, that's it. If you're BF him then maybe it is a refulx thing, or maybe you should try cutting the dairy out of your diet to see if that's the problem? If it's formula, then maybe you should try switching brands. My babies only drank Gerber Good Start, as the other brands gave them really bad gas. Good luck!

I'm breastfreeding and I don't really eat/drink dairy because it upsets my stomach. I'm waiting for the dr. To call me back, I never had this problem with my others, my first was formula fed and second breastfed.

My first son was a "happy spitter" he spit a TON after almost ever feeding. He gained weight just fine, was a happy baby he just went through A LOT of bibs, blankets and PJs! He grew out of it, we never did anything for reflux and I didn't worry about it.

My son has dealt with reflux since 2 weeks old. As long as your baby isn't in pain and is gaining weight then spitting up alot is fine. It helped us to hold him upright for about 20 mins after eating and to burp in the middle of feeding him

His dr. Suggested that at his last visit and I have always burped him in the middle of feedings but it doesn't seem like that helps. He gains weight fine but is either gassy or spitting up or trying to spit up. He makes like this grunt noise and then he starts gagging trying to get the milk up. It's really weird.

I was concerned bc my son was like that. He would spit up a lot! He could soak through a thick blanket and 3 layerss of waterproof sheets to the mattress! He is very gassy, needs to buro a lot. He also had the gurgling noise. I asked my mw and dr about it, bith assured me it was just normal. I kept telling them, but this is my 3rd, not my first, I know what normal is, the others did not do this. very frustrating. trust your instincts, if you feel it is getting worse or not gaining, press the issue. if everything else seems ok, try not to worry.

Yes to this. Try holding him propped up or putting him in a carseat or Bumbo after feedings. That is what we do to keep him upright.I FF and my LO rarely spits up. He does spit up a lot when he eats too much. Sometimes I think he's like a goldfish..he doesn't know when he's full and would eat until he pops!

LOL Jenni that was so my first! Evan loved to comfort nurse and had no issue just nursing and eating for hours, spitting a bunch back up, making extra room and eating again. He was totally BF and spit up TONS so I'm not putting much on what they eat. Rory hardly spits up at all doesn't over eat and is much crabbier than Evan ever was. Babies are all different!

So I cut dairy completely out and I know I can take a while to take effect but his spit up has decreased. The nurse still hasn't called me back even about the EEG, I'm getting pretty annoyed....
