Teething?!

I know this is SO early. Carter will be 3 months old next Wednesday. He is already starting to drool like crazy and he likes to gnaw on the nipple of his bottle. Could he possibly be teething this early? I bought him an Inspired by Finn baltic amber necklace and I have already put it on him (much to his daddy's "He looks like a sissy" and nana's "He looks like a hippie" dismay).

I want to say teething can start as early as 3 months, just because he is teething doesn't mean you'll see teeth anytime soon though. I don't remember when my others started teething, I think around 4 or 5 months?

Mine didn't get their teeth in until around six months. trystan isn't drooling but he sure is knawing on his fists a lot... But with him I just think he's doing it when he's hungry!

Teething can start at anytime (think about Aisha's baby, he already had teeth!) Friends babies have gotten teeth ~2months, so it could be teeth. But it could also be nothing. Babies drool as part of their immune system, so he could be fighting something or just staying healthy. The gnawing on his hands could be for comfort, boredom/playing or teething. Until you see a tooth, you never knew and even then, it could have all just been a fluke!
I saw a cartoon once that said something about when you aren't sure the reason, blame it on teething Lol

My lactation consultant said that lots of babies show loads of teething symptoms for about 2 months before the first teeth break through. I bet he's just beginning and could definitely have teeth by 5 months!

Just think, your little guy is so advanced for his age! Smile I can't believe he is 3 months, either - congrats, Mama!

I bet he is rocking the necklace!!! Smile I agree that it could be teething, do you see any bumps on his lower gum? It can take months for teeth to come through tough.

I am pretty sure Landon is starting to teethe too. He is having major fussiness, chewing on everything drooling like crazy. My other kids started about 3 months too and didnt get teeth until they were about 5 - 6 months. It takes spells when it is really bad and times when it is not so bad.

We have been asking the same thing for a month. Could be ages before we will know though. I just had her baby book out to try and compare. DD didn't get teeth till around a year old and from the time she was 4 months old we thought she was teething. Seems all the drooling and gnawing eventually turned into more drooling gnawing and fussiness about a month or two before the first tooth came through. Sigh.

I felt of his gums and didn't feel any bumps. I guess he is going to be teething for a while before any actual teeth pop in.
