Totally crappy appt today...

Hey girls, I normally only post threads in December as I'm a EDD 12/1 girl, but I was so peed at may appt today I needed to tell you all as well! So my appt was at 10AM. I sat and sat and sat, until the nurse finally decided to grace me with her presence at 11:35AM! I was so peed off, why do you even make appt times if you can't keep them! I'd rather just reschedule than to sit there almost two freakin' hours! So I couldn't see my normal doctor because her schedule was booked solid, so I had to see a nurse that I've never seen before (which is weird, since I've been coming to this same office for nine years)! She asks me if I'm having any problems, and I tell her everything with baby is fine, but my back has been killing me... in the same spot that bothered me when I was pregnant with DS #1... lower left hand side (is anyone else experiencing this?). She jots it down in my paperwork and completely ignores it! She doesn't offer me anything, no help, no guidance, no medication (lol)... nothing! She throws me back, finds the HB (which is the only good part of the appt, hearing my LO's HR of 153!) and tells me to have a nice day! I was shocked and amazed... I got a whole five minutes, and if they're doing that with everyone, WHY DID IT TAKE HER SO FREAKIN' LONG TO SEE ME??!! I'm definitely gonna let my usual OB know when I see her next month that I do not want to see her anymore. I pay an arm and a leg for a doctor and I expect to have excellent care... and if you don't care at least pretend that you do! Anyway, they scheduled me for my anatomy scan U/S next Friday, so I'm excited about that! Plus I got the paperwork to go and have the blood test done for downs and spina bifida... fun, fun fun. Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I had to unload on you guys!

I usually wait at least an hour for my OB (whom i wont be seeing until week 28 thankfully!!) Her problem is that she books everyone and then gets called to a delivery, but is so booked she cant reschedule so we wait. She also takes the time needed to answer all your uestions so even if you ar alloted 20 minutes, some people take 45. I wish i could change but there arent any other OBs with openings ;(

btw, it sounds like your sciatic nerve, which is what I have too. Its really painful, but a soak in baking soda and epsom salts every night makes a HUGE difference!

UGH I had the SAME rant with my doc 2 appointments ago. I point blank told him that if the wait is going to over an hour for a 5 minute appointment they should tell me when I walk in the door so I can reschedule and walk right back out! I realize he's an OB and he may have circumstances that throw his appointments to hell but at this point postponing a week isn't going to do me any harm so if the wait is an eternity just tell me I'll help the schedule out and postpone a week!

That sucks! I haven't had any long wait times lately but when I was pg with DS2 I was 5 minutes late for my appointment once, and because of that they made me wait another 2 hours till they saw me. That pissed me off but yours is worse!

That wait would get on my nerves! Where were your kids at that time? I am assuming you were having to pay childcare or they were with you, being 100% bored in the waiting room.

I went to a specialist once. He was supposedely world famous awesoem doctor. He was Bill Clinton's dr. He works on lots of rich Arabic people (I don't mean that at all racist, just saying he is a high dollar doctor!). Anyway, my appt was at 11am. I didn't get seen until 6pm. At the time my kids were 3 mo old and 2 yr 3 mo. They were not happy sitting in the stroller for that long. I complained several times. Other people would walk in and be seen before me. The receptionist would be like oh that is an emergency. I was like well I am having gall bladder pains from the stress right now. This is turning into an emergency for me! It was completely annoying.
Finally when I was "seen" I talked to the dr for about 5 minutes, a nurse came in a said she needed to talk to him. He said he'd be back in a few. I waited for 45 minutes and he never came back. I talked to the receptionist, she told me to get an u/s. I saw another dr (like an assistant dr) he talked to me about my options, did a blood test and sent me home. It took maybe 30 minutes. I was so pissed. I promised I would never go back to that doctor. How could they do that to someone? And it wasn't the first wait I had had at that office. Generally the wait was 2-3 hours!
I hope it never happens again at your office!

What???? You actually waited to see a doctor for 7 hours??? I wouldn't care if he was Jesus' doctor I wouldn't wait more than 2 hours before I got up and gave someone the finger as I headed out the door!!! My DH was off yesterday, so thankfully it wasn't too much of a hastle as far as the kids go. I did take my oldest DS with me though... he's 8 and behaves very well, and he wanted to hear the baby's HB. After the wait, I don't think he wants to go with me anymore lol!

Wow - I agree that they should let you know as soon as you get there so you can make the decision. Sorry it was so crappy...I would for sure bring it up. I love that docs offices complain when you are more then 10 min but it is OK if you wait for hours.
