Trying to decide what is better

For the past week and a bit I have been so very very very sick...did I mention I have been sick Smile The m/s has been kicking my butt and I am one of the ones that loves PG symptoms. I tried a bunch of things nothing worked so I went on Diclectin yesterday. Well I never puked a once today....never even gagged but I was so tired I could hardly get off the couch. I have no idea what is better. With being sick I layed all day because the puking got me so weak and tired. Now I am so tired I am not even eating much more....just to tired to even cook. Thank god DH has been taking care of me. I have no idea what to do. Does anyone know if you get more used to being on the Diclectin once it is in your system? I don't have an OB appt until the 14th to ask her. I honestly have never been this sick with a PG before. The one great thing of it is I know that my little sweet pea must be still growing and doing well to get me this sick and tired.

Sorry to hear that hun  My Dr has me on Zofran its a anti nausea med... We decided on this med because I go to school in the am and work in the pm, so there is no sleepiness. Idk if you have tried it before, maybe its not a long acting med, maybe worth asking?!?!?! Hope you get better soon.

Hey Melanie...I thought I could offer some insight about your medication. It isn't available in the US but I looked up its ingredients. It is a combination of doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is a B6 which reasearch indicates helps with nausea.

Doxylamine succinate is an antihistamine (similar to Benadryl) commonly used here in the US as an over the counter sleep aid. The sleep aid dose is typically 50 mg. I can't take that much because it way over sedates me. I half it and take 25 mg. And even that still knocks me out. According to the manufacturer Diclectin contains 10 mg per dose (depending on how much your doctor has ordered you to take).

The being sleepy isn't going to wear off. Thats just part of what the drug does. As an antihistamine, though, it will dry out your mucous membranes so be sure to drink lots of fluids and you might need eye drops (I do when I take it because I wear contacts).

I hope this information helps you! And I'm so sorry about your terrible bout of morning sickness!

Thanks everyone!! Jen - thanks for all the info. I knew what was in it but did not look more into it. I was on 5 a day - I quit taking it and yes I have m/s but I feel a little more alive. THanks!
