Weight Gain???

I think I have mentioned that some of the people we see are concerned over my lack of weight gain. Before I was diagnosed with Gestational DIabetes I was up about 5lbs...that would have been around week 21 or so. When I started the diet I love 5 pounds....I don't know how I am eating more then ever. So they were concerned but then I gained that back so they were happy. Then lost a couple pounds and the cycle continues. Last week I had gained back so I was up to gaining 7lbs in total...I was happy. I don't want to gain alot of weight I am chunky but I don't like losing while I am PG. My OB told me last week to quit worrying about it that as long as the baby is growing and I am eating healthy all is good. Well baby is over 2lbs already so I know she is doing great. I weighed myself today..which I shouldn't...and I am only up 2lbs now. So I lost 5 pounds again. I know I should not worry but I kind of do. Because of the GD I can't exactly go out and eat everything to try to gain weight. The dietician told me I was being to strict with my diet a couple weeks ago so I have started to have some treats here and there. I am getting the 2100 calories in so I know I am eating enough. But isn't this weird. Is anyone else having problems gaining weight and are concerned? Although then I thought about it..I am delivering in 12 1/2 weeks...even if I gain 1 lb a week I will end the PG only gaining 15....that would be great for after. I think I just need to throw out my scale until I am done the PG.

When I was pregnant with Kay I think I lost somewhere like 8 pounds at the beginning and then I stayed the same for a couple weeks as well. I didn't start gaining until about 25 - 28 weeks.

I think it is normal for some women to lose weight at the beginning. I'm sure it is nothing to worry about Smile and if your doctor is happy and not worried then I would just not step on the scale for awhile.

I am sure everything is fine Melanie Smile But I'm sure it's hard! I'm the opposite....I gain SO much weight when preg. My doc is laying off me this pregnancy (he made a lot of comments with my last one) b/c I gained at the same rate with Evan and lost it all with in 12 weeks PP. I'm a healthy weight to begin with (135-140lbs 5'6") but I gained ohh 70? with Evan. I'm up 20 already. I was doing well for a while then gained 10 in 5 weeks. Sigh. I've tried making a couple healthy changes that I needed to make anyway, cutting out bagels for oatmeal etc but I know I'll continue to gain I think it's just my body's deal.....

I am the same. I start out at the same height and weight as you, and I gained about 60 lbs with DD, and over 50 with DS. And I'm up 20 so far too! I was hoping to keep it down to 30 lbs gained this time but it looks like I'll be past 40 again. I usually lose it all within 3-4 months too, so I'm not terribly concerned, but I'm worried it will be harder to bounce back after this 3rd baby!

I need to make some changes to my diet. I am a carb-oholic.

Melanie, I'm sure you are fine! You've got a great team of experts frequently checking in Biggrin Plus, I'm frankly a little jealous.

I didn't gain a pound before about 18 or 20 weeks. My healthcare providers weren't worried, but my Mother was FREAKING OUT. I'm now gaining weight, to the tune of approximately 1 to 1.5 lbs a week.

We'll have to do weight loss check-ins postpartum! that would be neat.
