Yeast (TMI) - advice?

*$%@$#&*! :brucelee:

So I had a yeast infection for what feels like the last half of this pregnancy. I wanted it to go away naturally, you know rest air yogurt diet and all, however I finally caved & used 3-day canasten. I had asked the doctor to run a swab just to be sure, since with DD I had leukhorrhea so badly but it wasn't YI. My previous OB said never treat unless you're sure. This doctor told me go ahead and use canasten, or don't, whatever I was comfortable with. He said it's not a big deal at all to baby, I'm thinking he's a bit nuts - it would be more than annoying and bad if it transfers to mouth & boob, right???

It's been a glorious two weeks without discomfort!

Yesterday mild irritation, nothing I'd even thought to mention to the doctor about. Today I'm convinced it is back. WTF am I supposed to do now. I'm already a day past my due date. I won't use tablets or ovules and can't use the new oral, so that leaves the mucky cream. 1-day treatments are most likely for a recurrence, 7-day treatments are too long.... do I get another 3-day kit today?

Ugh, I don't know which is worse. I delayed treatment the first time just thinking I want to be yeast free at delivery. Sigh, I guess I got it back from DH that ONE FLIPPIN TIME we enjoyed each other's company (of course, because my hoohoo was feeling up for the challenge for a change!!!).

Anyway, I know I am totally ranting but need your advice... I could go into labour anytime and what would you think is worse - gobs of stupid ooky cream, or itchy purple angry beaver? I just wanna roll on the carpet and have a wailing screaming hissy fit.
:help:

I'm so sorry, but you had me LOL with your beaver comment!! This really sucks that you're going through this at due date time (and the fact that you've been having to deal with this for what seems like your entire pregnancy!). The only advice I can offer is do what would make you feel the best. If you think the 3-day is the best way to go, then go for it. You know you'll be kicking yourself if you don't and baby still isn't here. But if it's not bothering you too bad then let it go. BTW, is it safe for baby to be born if you have an infection down there?

Yes the doctor says no problem at all, and he says it doesn't necessarily mean baby will get it too. But what does he know, he's a man, lol. It's good to try and have a little LOL moment when things are crappy :). I suppose gobs of ooky cream will get out with plug, water etc so maybe I'm overanalyzing it. You're right about not treating & if I'm still waiting for baby I'll be kicking myself... thanks Krystal

I HATE those things!! I had one at about 6 weeks b/c I had strep throat and had to take antibiotics. I used a 3 day thing.

Here in the US, alot of people use Monistat, it is OTC. There is a 1 day treatment that doesn't leak out. Here is a link...

I've used this with good results. If I were you I'd go ahead and treat.
