I went in for my 13wk appt yesterday. I was surprised when they took me back for an ultrasound. I had an ultrasound at my 9wk appt to make sure my dates were correct, and they were - to the day. I had my husband and two littlest girls with me this time... I've never had an u/s at 13wks before (I'm 31), and I've been going to the same OB for my last 4 pregnancies. Anyway...The HB was 146 and I assumed everything looked okay with the baby. I was excited to see the him/her wiggling around, and my OB checked between the legs to see if there was anything to see...he thinks there might be a little somethin' dangling there, but it's too early to be sure. He mentioned that we would check again at my next appt, which I didn't realize until we were driving away is at 16wks. So now I'm wondering if there was something wrong? I've always done the anatomy scan at 20 weeks, so 16 weeks is early to have another ultrasound. I wish I had been more on my feet and ask questions, but I was a little distracted trying to get my 4 & 2 year old to see the baby on the screen.
My OB printed us 2 pictures, which look identical to me... Does this look like an average 13 weeker? I'm probably way over thinking this, but having an ultrasound at every appointment just doesn't feel normal...
I should also add that I will LOVE this baby even if it comes out with three heads and purple polka dots! I've never done genetic testing before, because it just doesn't matter to us. This is OUR baby, no matter what and I can't wait to meet him/her in November!

I love the u/s pictures! So sweet! Is this the same Dr you went to for your other pregnancies?

Yep, this OB delivered all three of my girls. I LOVE him, he has always been so personable and honest. I can't imagine that he wouldn't tell me if something was off, but I don't know. Of course now I'm googling nuchal scan images, and that's not helping at all. Honestly though, it doesn't matter. I will love this baby no matter wat, I'm just the kind of person that likes to KNOW. I hate the unknown. I'm a worry wart!

Looks like a good baby to me! Though I'd definitely call the office and ask why there you're having u/s at every appt. If there's no medical reason you can decline the extras. Of course I felt like my OB with my last pregnancy was looking for something wrong with all of the extra u/s he wanted, which bothered me.
He looks great to me ... I'm just going with he because if the doc believes he saw something dangling, and mentioned it, I'm sure theres something there When a friend of mine had an ultrasound the doc mentioned that there was a cyst on the baby's brain... gave her the possiblities, including the fact that it could just be normal. Turned out to be nothing. So, If there was something looking "wrong", then I'm sure he would tell you. He may just not have realized that you had another appt before your 20 week one??? I personally end up with extra ultrasounds at the end. To watch the baby's growth, and to watch for signs of OI.
Cute baby you have! Looks good to me...I wouldn't worry about something being wrong. I think they would tell you why you are having extra ultrasounds (if they are indeed extra). My SIL had ultrasounds routine at every visit during her pregnancies. She said they did it for everyone, so not unheard of.
Great pics! I wouldn't worry. My doc has done extra u/s just to put my mind at ease and give me a quick peak at my babe. I'm thinking yours is planning another because he thinks he saw something dangling and wants to give you confirmation
