16 week appointment

I have my 16 week appointment this afternoon and I'm wondering what to expect. This pregnancy has been so much different than my one with DS and it seems that every appointment I go to there's something that causes a semi-crisis (bleeding, no hb, etc). I'm really hoping that this one is boring and they can get a HB on a doppler so I don't feel so freaked out. I also really want to have an u/s done, not because I want to know the gender (which would just be an added plus) but because I just can't shake this feeling of something going/being wrong still and I want to "see" that everything is fine and developing like it should. It would really ease my mind tons and help me relax a little better. If I don't have an u/s today I'm going to try to convince my OB to schedule my anatomy scan for 18 weeks if that's at all feasible, 2 weeks is so much easier a wait than 4.

At 16 weeks It is much easier to find the baby... and even if they dont right away, it may just be that you have an anterior placenta or something... no biggy. The 16 week appt is usually very basic. They will do all the normal, boring, things, but will also ask if you want to do the quad screen (done between 15 and 18 weeks). It just checks for markers for abnormalities. A lot of people under 30 choose not to get it because of the low risk of there being any. Praying for an easy, uneventful appt for you Smile Also, most doctors do the anatamy scan between 17 or 18 weeks, and 22 weeks. So, I would think they would ok you for one then Smile

I decline all testing, so my appts are normally quick and boring. Quick weigh in, blood pressure check, and pee in the cup. Then the midwife comes in feels the uterus (no measuring till after 20 weeks), uses the doppler (after 13 weeks), and goes over questions. In and out in under 30 minutes. This will keep up pretty much the entire pregnancy with just a couple exception.
I have my anatomy scan Wednesday at 18 weeks. It's pretty common to do it then, so hopefully you can schedule yours then!

Thanks Ladies. Biggrin Thankfully it was a very uneventful appointment and they were able to find the HB on the doppler (162bpm), I brought DS with me and he was super stoked about hearing the baby. He asked "can the baby talk yet?"

Thats great that it was so un eventful Smile I'm almost tempted to ask my OB if she can take a peek at the baby again tonight and see if its easier to tell what is in between the legs... but, I doubt she will. I'll be ok though. My 20 week scan is only 3 weeks away, and we are leaving the 15th and will be gone till the 24th, so I doubt I will have time to dwell on it. I just wish I could find out since I will be doing some fun shopping while we are on vaca and I would LOVE to get some stuff for the baby. I am not a huge fan of "gender neutral" stuff. I always find that yellow ends up looking extremely girly, and green almost always looks more boyish Sad And I dont do white with how dirty it always ends up looking lol

Glad your appointment went well. They scheduled my anatomy scan for 20 weeks(next week) but we went to an outside place at 17 weeks to get our scan.
