4 month Chat

With some of our babies fast approaching the 4 month mark, how are things going? How are you and baby, and fam? What new things are your babies doing? And any thing else you just generally want to chat about...

Teething here definitely. He's a super drool factory and is constantly knawing on his hands and bib. He's also much more awake during the day and even with teething he sleeps a good 6-7 hours at night before getting up to eat and having a diaper change then back to bed.

None of my kids have been early teethers. My oldest got his first tooth just before his 1st birthday, then bam got them all at once (it seemed). I actually liked that way better than how it went with my 2nd. With him, he started getting teeth at about 7 or 8 months and it seemed to drag on for months. My DD got hers around a year as well. I'm praying that Kellen is like DS1.. also makes for a great nursing relationship Wink

LOL We are way behind! I think Marek might be the youngest baby on this board...

Anyway, we are finally starting to get more of a routine going and I'm starting to feel like a better mom LOL. Everything feels more under control and more manageable with a loose routine. Marek is great and so happy most of the time. Kostas is doing great as well, its so nice that he doesn't have any negative feelings toward Marek. I've also been working really hard to break out of my shell and be more social. I've done several play dates the last 2 weeks and taken Kostas to several activities too. He is much happier since I have started this. It also recharges me. As much as I want to just stay home and hole up, I have so much fun when I do get out.

Picking up Kostas at the bus stop Smile

Cloth diapering is going much better than I thought it would. I haven't bought a single disposable diaper since Marek was 10 days old. I have bought more pocket diapers and they are even easier and so darn cute. I'm also dabbling in Elimination Communication!

My newest pocket diapers!

Breastfeeding is still going really well. I have NIP in soooo many different places, I feel so proud! I would always go sit in an empty room or in the car with Kostas but this time I just do it wherever I am. It is so empowering Smile

Sleep is getting better and better. I actually woke up engorged this morning because Marek slept for 6-7 hours straight! That didn't happen with Kostas until he was closer to a year...

This Woombie swaddler has helped at ton!

Callie had her 2 month appt yesterday, a few weeks late since we have been out of town.

11 lbs. 4 oz. - 75th percentile

23 1/2 inches - 95-99th percentile

Her pedi is thrilled with her growth, as am I! She put her on her tummy to see how well she would hold her head up and she suprised both of us be rolling to her back! Breastfeeding is gong great and am so proud of myself for NIP several times! I was only able to BF DS for 3 months, so I am nervous as we approach that milestone this time. Callie had a few rough weeks in the sleep department, but is doing great since we have been home, sleeping 6-8 hour stretches at night. The only problem we are really dealing with right now is terrible gas! She is very difficult to burp so that is part of the problem. Might try eliminating milk, cheese, and yogurt from my diet. It will be hard as I love those things!

And finally, some pics!

My mom took this one, I love it! DH nicknamed her ping pong because her head is so round!

Very dreamy!

And one of DS that I took in KS that I love.

Carson was 2 months a week ago and we had his 2 month appt this last friday. He's definately way more chunky than DS1 ever was and we're doing great EBF. He's up to 15lbs 15oz from his bw of 9lbs 9oz! I think it's so interesting to see the difference in my boys, DS1 was always super nosey, wanted to know what everyone was doing all the time, and really social. Carson on the other hand has a completely different personality, he's way more serious, wants to do what he wants to do, and more interested in everything BUT the person holding him. I was a little worried about his lack of eye contact/being interested in faces but I've learned that he just has to be in the right mood.

Finally getting around to reading all the updates! My they're growing!

We still haven't had our 2 month appointment, but I did try to make one! lol. Base clinic wouldn't let me make an appt till she was in their DEERS system and well we waited as long as possible to get her birth certificate and just got her registered right before the 60 day mark. Guess I should call later today. She won't get any vaccines and I have no concerns, so I'm not exactly the most on top of this.
Zoe is my Ms. Chub Chub. She started off weighing less than her brother and I'm pretty certain that she weighs more than he did at 2 months! She's super happy still (remember smiling within hours of birth!) and started baby laughs at 8 weeks. She sleeps fantastic - anywhere from 3-9 hours at a time! Pretty much her brother's sleep opposite. lol. It's fun watching her learn how to grab toys right now. She loves to flirt with the hanging toys from her rocker/bouncer chair. Smile

Kellen has a double ear infection, and an extremely plugged nose and cough. My poor baby Sad He seems to be getting a bit better now having been on the antibiotics for a few days. Friday when I had him in he was 10lbs 9oz.

Even with not feeling well hes still pretty smiley, though not wanting to lay flat on his back, or be put down. The other 3 all had a bug the other week and I thought that Kellen and I had been spared. But, nope. Then, as soon as he started having symptoms my body decided to get them too... Thinking it needed to to make antibodies to help him... if that makes any sense. Luckily this weekend was DS2's 4th birthday and we had a house full of people. The great thing was that there were more helping hands to hold Kellen Smile

Shanon- That is awesome about the BFing and cloth diapering. Its also awesome that you are able to get out and get together with some other mommies. This weekend was great for me for that. I really need to find some friends up here so I dont get so lonely. How do you keep M warm enough to go for walks? We have been so stuck in the house with - degree weather, snow, and not wanting to risk getting Kellen too cold Sad

Natalie- What a big girl Smile She is too cute, and I love your pics. What a cutie Smile

Angela- It is AMAZING how different each kid can be. And way to grow Carson. Keep it up big man. Its awesome to hear that BFing is going so well. Dont worry about him, he sounds like he is doing great

Jackie- I love how big Zoe's smile is. I have to say, all the babies on this board are so darn cute Smile Its crazy the hoops you have to jump through to get paper work and stuff these days. We miss placed Kellen's SS card and couldnt file our taxes without it. I went to get it and brought all the stuff they said that I needed on line. Well, I got there, and I didnt have the exact way the papers needed to be. Luckily, the lady was able to give me the # so we could file the taxes, I just have to get the signatures and what not that I need to get his actual card. Or, maybe his card will turn up... fingers crossed. I still havent gotten Kellen's Birth Certificate, so that is def. on my list.

Gideon has caught his first bug. He seems to just have a cold, but he seems pretty miserable. poor baby and my daughter caught it as well. 2 sick children to take care of = one tired mommy.
