????????????????????????????????

I was relaxing on the couch, thinking how I needed to get up, go to the bathroom, and go make myself some dinner, when all of a sudden I got this sharp, really bad pain on my right side. It doubled me over, and I couldnt get up for a couple of min. Finally got up, went to the bathroom. The sharpness of the pain is gone, but its still aching. Also, my lower back is hurting. Ive been getting sharp pains, but never like this. I'm not bleeding, and I took my temp and I'm slightly warm, but not feverish. I really dont want to waste my time going in for nothing... plus the kids are all in bed, and I'd rather not drag them out to go sit at the ER for a couple of hrs... and I really dont want to go alone...
What do you guys think? Best to just wait it out, see if it goes away? Or go in? I really dont want to be one of those people who goes in all the time... and, I hate wasting people's time. It just really scared the crud out of me...

I would call your OB. Someone should be on call, and they would be able to advise you better than we could. Of course, odds are they'll tell you to go to the ER... but at least then you're going on the advice of a Dr.

I hope it's nothing... Beee

Did it happen when you first got up?? If so, that happens to me all the time. I wouldnt worry about it. Hang in there!!

I tried calling the ER at the hospital I go to. They kept transferring me to a different person, and the last time they were trying to transfer me to an OB nurse when the line went dead. I know for a fact that the OB would just have transferred me back to the ER since I'm so early on. Dang people not listening to me, and not knowing what they are doing.

Any way. I was reading up on etopic pregnancies, and from what I'm reading, I'm not at high risk for one, and if that is what that pain was, I would be a lot worse off then I am. So, I think I'm just going to go to bed, and call my OB in the morning to see what she says. If it happens again, or if I start having other issues, then I'll go in.

If it happens again, I'd see somebody. Otherwise I'll just call your OB in the morning. How scary! Hopefully it's nothing other than a pinched nerve or something.

(And it's normal to have a slightly elevated temperature. Lol

I think your plan makes sense. That's what I would do too. I hope it doesn't happen again! ((hugs))

I have experienced that pain as well...though mine only lasts for 10-20 seconds, and not a couple of minutes. If the worry is ectopic, then I assume the pain would be very severe and long lasting. If it goes away and doesn't come back tonight, then I assume it's just normal pregnancy stretching/tightening of things down there...

With my first pregnancy I kept getting sharp pains on my right side (very low down). I went to the ER finally. They did an ultrasound and told me I had an ectopic pregnancy. They had a specialist come in and check for sure. Everyone told me they were 99% sure I had an ectopic pregnancy and that they were sorry. I had emergency surgery right away.

Long story short- it turned out to be a large cyst in my right tube, not an ectopic pregnancy. It was dangerous though and they did remove it with an incision. They said it most likely would have burst my tube.

Anyway- so what I'm saying is I know what it can feel like to have pains from the fallopian tubes. They are sharp pains. Mine were happening continuously. They were not terrible (I wasn't crying or bent over in pain or anything) but they kept happening and felt like a shooting pain... then a little while later there'd be another one and so on.

I've had a few similar pains this pregnancy but they haven't been continuous so I think everything is fine but if they do happen on a regular basis I will definitely go in. Since I'll had surgery on a tube I am at a higher risk for an ectopic pregnancy.

Hope that helps some!!

I've had a few minor pains like that. I hope it was just a one time thing and that it doesn't happen again.

Thanks everyone... I'm still sore this morning... but didnt have anything major happen last night. Ive been having sharp pains lower, more in my pelvis, for a while, but nothing that doubled me over and lasted as long as the one last night. My clinic opens in about 33min, so I will call then and see what my doc. says. thanks again for all your advice... Amy, that must have been scary Sad Thanks for sharing your experience. I am wondering if there is a cyst or something going on in there? even if it is just on my overy, it would make sense of my its getting more and more intense as I get further along... not that I'm all that far along yet. A friend of mine went to the ER this last fall because of sever pain in her abdomen. They did an ultrasound and found that she had a cyst on one of her overies... and that she was pregnant... with twins lol. She is due the end of June, and just found out that they are both girls Smile

I love my OB. I called, left a message with the receptionist, and with in a 1/2 hr my dr's nurse called me back. She got more info, and then was going to talk to the Dr. With in 15 or so min. she called back. The doc. wants me to keep an eye on the pain. If it gets worse again, then I need to call back and probably go in. Her guess is that its just an exasperated ligament/muscle pain. I go in next tuesday for my dating ultrasound, so as long as things dont get worse before then, they are seeing me then any way. Luckily the OB does her own ultrasound. She had the nurse go with me to make that appt after my confirmation to make sure the ultrasound was with her, and not one of the other drs in the clinic. I really like her, and am super excited for next week. The next week can not go fast enough lol. Just hoping that I have no reason to go in before then Wink

It could have been round ligament pain...very common in pregnancy as the ligaments start stretching to hold the growing uterus. Sometimes mine last less than a minute, but there are other times where they last a couple of minutes and then I am sore in that spot for a while. RL pains usually come when you make a sudden move like getting up, rolling over in bed, sneezing, coughing, etc.

Ive felt them with my other 3 pregnancies, not as early as I have this time, but i guess thats because my body has done this before lol. this one last night just felt different, way more painful and lasted longer. But, maybe it just means that my body is over achieving this time??? It also made me nervous that it was definitely just the one side. I just hope that it doesnt happen again Smile

I have this too when I'm going to lay down or get up, it feels like a sharp pain on my right side kinda directly in front of my hip/pelvis. I always just assume it's a pulled muscle since it only lasts a few seconds (but does it hurt!).

Mine have gotten worse with each pregnancy and they start earlier in the pregnancy. I typically feel them on one side more than on both sides.

So, I'm going in to see my doc this morning. I've noticed that my syptoms arent as intense as they had been. I had been up peeing a couple times a night, and am not any more, and just not having to pee as much as I had been. Also, my bbs arent sore, and my nausea isnt really happening. SO, with all that, and the pains I've been having, I'm nervous. I just know with my last 3 pregnancies things at this point should be getting more intense, not less, as far as symptoms go. So, going to go in and get checked out just to make sure that everything is a-0k.
