AHHHH!!!!!!

need to vent, since there isnt much else I can do. My sister just called me. She was at her DD's 2 month check up, and their DS's 15 month check up. They told the nurse to be careful because both the kids have OI. My nephew is fine. The nurse must have done something too forceful because she broke my Niece's FEMUR!!!!!!!!!!!! Not just a little crack (which a dr did to my nephew at 3 months old) but a out of place, we need to set this, type fracture. Then, they go to the hospital to have xrays done, confirm whats going on.. AND THEN SEND THEM HOME!!!!!! why? because they need to figure out who they are going to send her to. SO, now my sister and her dh are going home, with a broken baby, whom they cant give meds or food too (because setting it requires her getting general), to sit and wait for these INCOMPETENT people to figure out their heads from their (pardon the language) *** holes!!!! I am so upset for them, and its killing me that I cant be there. But, I'm not going to be much help having to drag 3 kids there Sad So, I'm going to wait till Friday after DH gets home so that I can go up kidless, or just with DS#1. I am so upset right now, I had to sit down because my stomach started to act up and cramp. I also have OI, and so does DD. I am so thankful that the doctors and nurses around here seem to understand the importance, and meaning, of BEING CAREFUL!!!! ugg ugg uuuuuuggggg!!!!!!!

If I'm remembering correctly, OI is also known as "brittle bone disease", meaning the bones break super easily. And it's inexcusable for a nurse not to realize that, especially after being cautioned against it. :angry1:

Wow, wow, wow. That poor little girl. Sad

There are actually several types of OI. Most people think of the more sever types that you can hug the person wrong and they break. Thankfully that is not the type we have. Here is a link to info. on the different types. We have type IV

Thanks everyone. They ended up finding a ped. ortho. doc. They went and saw him at his office. He scheduled her casting at another hospital. She is now n a cast from her waist down to both feet. I last talked to my sister at 10pm last night and they still werent sure if they would keep her the whole night or not. But, they did give her pain meds, and she was resting a bit more comfy.
