Am I the only one...

Who doesn't get an ultrasound until 12 weeks? I had my first prenatal appt and they don't do anything but 'interview' me and poke me (two different urine samples, 6 tubes of blood). I can't even THINK about telling people until I hear that heartbeat! This was the same for my first two kiddos, but it's always torture. Anyone else in the same boat?

Don't feel bad, I don't even have ny first appointment until next week. I'm hoping things feel more real then.

I won't have my first prenatal until 10 weeks, and probably won't get an ultrasound then. If I hadn't had to go to the ER last week, it probably would have been 12 weeks - or even 20 - before I got an ultrasound.

Don't get me wrong, I wish I hadn't had to go to the ER... but it was nice to have that reassurance.

I'm not sure when I'll get a scan. I have my first appt next Friday and I don't know when my LMP was so I'm hoping they do one.

My LMP date doesn't match with my HCG results (because i ovulated on CD20 or CD22) and because of my m/w has sent my for a dating scan. However if i told her I knew that I ovulated late I wouldn't get a scan until 12 weeks. I'm kinda naughty hehehe!

My Nurse Practitioner didn't want to send me for a dating u/s as I knew my LMP, but I told her I'd feel more comfortable getting one done... I am going on April 16th, I'll be around 9 weeks then. It's driving me crazy.

I don't have my first appt until April 20th. We just moved and had to get set up with a new ob/gyn. I will be 9wks by then, so I imagine that they would do an ultrasound then! Seems so far away!

My first appointment isn't until 9 weeks and they never said anything about doing an u/s. As long as I get a heartbeat I'll be happy, which they said they will try to get. Technically my insurance only covers 1 u/s, the anatomy scan, any others must me medically necessary. I don't really care for "extra" scans anyway. Any dating u/s for me would just probably be really close to my due date by LMP, so not much of a point really.

When I was pregnant with DS I didn't have my first u/s until 14 wks, mainly because I had to wait for DHs insurance to go into effect. I was terrified they would say my pregnancy was a preexisting condition so I told my ob I didn't know when my lmp was. It drove me crazy to wait so long but I'm glad I did, he looked so much more like a baby then. With this one I'm seeing a specialist so ill have my first u/s at 6 wks, I wont be suprized if we don't even get to see a hb. Sometimes having it sooner doesn't do anything to put your mind at ease.

I live in Ontario (Canada), so we get all our scans free, except if we get 3D done. I'm still too anxious to wait.. I just want to hear a heartbeat!

I'm definitely anxious, but it's not up to me when I get one - 12 weeks it is! I had 7 week appt (they thought it was 8 weeks, but I ovulate late) and they don't even listen for a heartbeat. I have to assume something is going on, as I'm outgrowing my jeans quite rapidly!! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has to wait! And actually, the only reason I am getting one then is for the nuchal folds screening - I'm considered advanced maternal age (wah!). Otherwise it would be 16 weeks or so.

My first, I didn't have a u/s until 20 weeks. I have a history of losses, including a partial molar pregnancy, so I get one to make sure that everything is ok with the baby and for dating purposes.
