Definitely not anywhere near starting food! I won't start Zoe on solids till at least 6 months if not later. We skip cereal completely since that has zero nutritional value and is actually sugar to their little bodies.

I saw this pop up on my FB news feed several times this morning!

We've started Sean on some cereal in the bottle in the evenings and have given it to him once in the bowl but he wasn't so sure about that. We just make sure when we put it in the bottle to give him extra formula in that bottle to make it runnier than regular cereal.

My oldest had a lot of constipation and tummy trouble with the cereal so I skipped it with Ds2 and DD. I was planning on doing the same with Kellen, but he is super interested in what we are eating and watching us. The ped did mention that all his drooling could mean hes physically ready for baby foods. Im torn. I dont want to introduce something and have him have issues because of it, but on the other hand if he is ready for it he nay be happier and sleep through the night.

Sean's definitely ready for food like Kellen... but we're going easy on the cereal still.... DS6 had a lot of issues with constipation starting very early on. Like around week 2. But so far Sean doesn't seem to have any of those issues. We did give him a bowl of it and the next day things were more solid but nothing awful like what Patrick went though. So for us, we're making it a little more runny and giving him slightly less at night with a few extra oz of bottle afterwards to help sort of clear the pipes.

We will wait until she is 5-6 months. I don't think she's ready yet.

Drooling is NOT a sign of being ready for food! Why in the world do peds tell people that? If that was true Zoe was ready for food at 2 months since that's when she started drooling a lot. There is no way her gut is ready for any sort of solids right now.

I know Anna posted a lot of cereal information in the other thread.

Cristiano has been on some solids about 2 weeks now. He will be 6 months this month. He stopped bf'ing on me and I started to really dry up. It got pretty emotional for me when we went thru that. Right now he only has had sweet potatoes, carrots and bananas. We tried some cereal with formula and banana this morning and he wasn't a fan. My mother in law watches him and being from Portugal she makes the baby food for me. Boils and purees it all. Yesteday he had 5 poops! I feed him it twice a day though. The rest is bottle. My other two I waited 6 months. they were fine. He was very curious. So I had let him taste my spoon after I had soup. and that pretty much started it all. He now sleeps until 4:30 in the morning. ( goes down about 7:30). But so far he is doing really well. No constipation.

Gideon has been on solids for about a month. He pretty much likes everything I make for him. I try for more veggies than fruit but of course he prefers the fruit to the veg.
