So I had a follow up ultrasound today due to my low lying placenta. The placenta moved up so i dont have to worry about that anymore thankfully!! Baby was only measuring 21 weeks and 6 days! I am 26 weeks and 2 days, so thats at least a 4 1/2 week difference! I know that the u/s can be up to 2 weeks off, but it still seems like she is too small! The doc isnt too worried about it as I have small babies, but I dont remember the other 2 ever measuring so far off! Im just super nervous! I dont want to be worried if the doc isnt, but I cant help it!
I wouldn't freak out yet. I'm sure you'll easily be able to ask for a follow up u/s in a few weeks if they haven't already said they'd do that. There are so many things that could have affected the measurements today. ((hugs))
Did you ask what the individual measurements were? Pp is right, so many things cab effect the measurements. Also, if the follow up was mainly to look at your placenta there is a good chance that whoever was doung the measuring wasnt as careful, or worried about it when they were measuring the baby. How off was she measuring last time? With m size, the possibility of OI, and my history in general i get extra ultrasounds at the end. Both of my older boys measured bigger (3 days a head) and in the average percentiles at our anatomy ultrasound. By the end, they dropped in the precentiles, and DS1 was induced because he had all but stopped growing. They were 6lbs, and 5lbs 8oz. DD on the other hand always measured small because of her short femurs, and bowing. This is what tipped us off to her having the OI (something that your kids only have a 1 in a thousand or something chance of having) and was 5lbs 5oz at birth. Wee dude is measuring in the 70th percentile, with his femurs just slightly short, as of about 3 weeks ago. I am dure by the end he will drop..
They said it was the whole baby not just one area. I know that they were supposed to remeasure everything because she was measuring a few weeks behind last time. I try not to worry, because as it is I am only 5'2'' and I weigh 123 lbs 6 mnths preggo! I just am hoping this one will be a little bigger than my DD as she was only 5 lbs and 8 oz at birth!
I have to go back for another u/s in a month to check on my baby's growth as well. They said he is measuring a week and half off. My doctor told me that once you get to the 2nd trimester, then the baby's growth can be off a couple weeks like you said so I wouldn't worry too much. I know it seems like a lot to be off, but I bet everything is fine. Especially if your doctor isn't worried. I am sure s/he would tell you honestly if they thought there was really something to be concerned about. I try to tell myself that all babies are different and all pregnancies are different. I know it's scary though because you just want to know everything is okay
