    Default Been MIA...and a question

Sorry I have been MIA for so long. I have been lurking here and there. I kind of got in a place where I was just so bored with the pregnancy and didn't have much to say or contribute. Now that school has started and my oldest is in Kindergarten things are stressful and DH is working A LOT. I'm going to try to be more active. To update...

The pregnancy is going great. Baby girl is measuring right on and blood pressure is good. I'm still sleeping well compared to how I was with my 3rd. I had my glucose test last Thursday and haven't heard anything about it yet, so I'm assuming I'm in the clear. I had an elective 4D u/s this morning and got to see sweet girl's face. She had her hands in her face almost the whole time, so we only got one really good profile shot. She looks like she has full lips and a turned up nose, lol. I can't wait to meet her!

I had to get my blood drawn after my u/s for my endocrinologist (I had my thyroid removed last November, so I have to be monitored extra during pregnancy for thyroid fluctuations due to my medication). While I was lying there (sometimes I lie down for those because I have issues, lol)...I had this painful cramp all over the bottom of my belly and it lasted for a minute or two. Then it stopped and did it again as I was getting up, but didn't last as long. It kind of felt like a contraction, but I really don't know if it was. The only contractions I ever had that actually hurt were in labor...and I could feel the tightening and REAL pain. This wasn't noticeable tightening and the pain was similar to a round ligament pain. But usually my RLP is very sharp and in a small location...not all over my belly. What do you think?

It sounds like it could have been a couple of contractions. If they arent continuing, I wouldnt be too alarmed. Also, I know I have pains like that when I am changing positions this time around. My OB said that its a combo of my contractions, and being pregnant with my 4th (things just happen sooner/more intense the more you have). My advice is to drink water, and if they become regular, get way worse, or you start having other symptoms of PTL, then call in.

Hang in there mama, we are almost there

Recently, I had what felt like a contraction too and it felt like you were describing. It only seemed to last about a minute, but it hurt! After that I swear I had like 30 BHs in a row. I had to lay down and get DH to take care of DS. I wasn't in pain, but I felt uncomfortable and I didn't want to be up moving around a lot. I have never felt contractions until I was either about to go into labor or already in labor. I am just wondering if maybe after you've been pregnant before, then your body is more likely to have them here and there? I don't have a good answer. I just thought it was interesting that you had a similar experience.

I hear you - I'm in the same boat with trying to stay online and updated! My DH has been working a lot lately, too, both my younger ones started preschool, we had a weekend trip right before school started, and I have been facing more and more demands at work myself before baby comes so I haven't been able to be online much either. I try to read, but I've gotten so far behind in keeping up with everything!!

ANYway, I'd say it sounds like those could have been contractions, or from moving positions. I'm having both - and while neither is exactly like labor contractions, I definitely think I'm having a ton of BH (daily), and lots of round ligament pain (some days worse than others). Have you had any more like that since?

My OB's office keeps telling me all the contractions and pain and discomforts I'm having are "just a 3rd pregnancy" and unfortunately something to bear through. If my contractions continue at the pace they're at most days, I'm going to ask them to check me I think. I went to L&D last Thursday after some strong and regular contractions for monitoring, and although she said baby is super low, I'm not dilating yet thankfully.

I haven't had anymore since then. I think now that it probably was contractions. I was pretty stressed out at the time, which probably helped them along. At least I'm not alone, although I hope none of your ctx are moving things along just yet! It was so weird for me because it has never happened before. It took 4 pregnancies for me to have an early contraction. Thanks for the replies.
