Cankles and other forms of rudness....

I don't know how much more I can handle. I know I'm having a c-section November 28, at the latest. People at work know my due date is December 5, and thats the date i'm leaving it at. I haven't told them about having this baby the week before because I don't want them to question as to why I'm staying so late. Thursday was a fairly warm day and I wore a sun dress with a light sweater. All I heard all day is are you sure you still have seven weeks and comments about cankles (calf/ankles). I just wanted to slug them by the end of the day. For heavens sake, I'm 33 weeks pregnant, I'm not exactly going to be tiny anymore. Do you think a jury would find me guilty?

OMG! So rude, I can't believe it. I feel you on the swelling. I have been so hot lately, I can't wear long pants/skirts to cover up my massively swollen legs, ankles, and feet. My neighbor keeps telling me that he's sure I'm having twins because I'm so big, and most everyone I encounter thinks I'm going to go into labor right here, right now. But so far, nobody has dared comment on my swollen feet (well, except DH, and it's no easier on the feelings coming from him!)

When my DH comments on my feet or legs, I tell him "Yup, and you know what really helps that? A massage"... And guess who gets the honor of rubbing them Wink tee hee

Luckily the swelling this time isnt as bad as DS1, but its def worse than it was with the other 2. With all of mine I have swollen the worst after they are born Sad

Wow.... I cannot believe someone would actually say that to you, especially at work. I would be pissed if someone said something like that to me and would say some veeeeeery unladylike things...

kier, i also got terribly swollen AFTER the birth. everyone else says their swelling goes away...not with me (at least the first time). i gained about 7 pounds of water weight, the same weight as my son, following the birth and it stayed on for a week. do you know why this is? is it just hormonal?

honey, i am sorry your coworkers made such rude comments. i don't understand people sometimes! i am sure you look fabulous.

I had massive swelling with my son after his birth, but i was induced and apparently the pitocin drip makes you retain water. I took like 2 weeks for it to go down! It was more uncomfortable than my episiotomy!!

And no way anyone should make cankle comments. You totally need to make some sort of come back along the lines of "ya well I'm pregnant....what's YOUR excuse!?!?"

Ugh. Some people have no tact at all!!! Sad I wouldn't blame you if you went off on a long rant to them next time!

I had two pregnant (due soonish themselves) women today while I was out shopping ask if I was sure of my due date because I look like I'm due now. OH, and I better hope my OB induces me this week or else I'll have too big of a baby. Thanks for your input strangers.
And for anyone who knows me, just be happy that I only gave a 1 minute spill on the risks of inductions and how an EDD isn't an expiration date. lol. I'm willing to let people be until they butt into my business.

I swelled after all my births...i was induced with my 1st and 3rd, but only had pit with my 3rd, and actually swelled the least with her. I think there are all sorts of reasons why some people tend to swelll more than others, biology, phsiology, and the pregnancy in general.

Jackie, i actually told someone that I wasnt pregnant, that I just swallowed a water mellon... The look on their face was priceless.

I can't understand why co-workers or strangers think it's ok to say these things to a pregnant woman. I'm sorry that happened to you. I keep just getting, you haven't had that baby yet? Are you sure your going to make it to November?

Yes, I am going to make it to November, I'm not even remotely as large as I got with my DS (which was huge!). I keep getting when my last day is which is Friday the 16th and then I have my c-section Monday the 19th. Then comments about how I won't make it that long.
