    Default Car Seats

So this past weekend I installed the infant seat base in my car. Holy goodness, it was such a struggle. I have a Hyundai Santa Fe so mid to larger sized SUV and I could barely get the three car seats in the back.

I actually had to go and buy DD a new 5 point harness booster seat because the seat she had was too wide at the top to be able to fit the baby between her and DS in his booster.

I would love to get a new car but we just paid this one off so I have to keep it for at least two more years. Anyone had to just deal with fitting car seats into a smaller area?

Puzzling seats together is not easy! I know the recommendation to help get 3 across was the Sunshine Kids Radian, but now it's redesigned and the Dionio Radian and they lowered the limits (I feel like they ruined a good seat!). I obviously haven't needed to do 3 across on a regular basis, but have helped a couple of friends do this. What made it so hard in one SUV was the latch and teether limits - you could only forward face in 2/3 positions and of course it was the most inconvenient places for what we were trying to do! Car manufacturers make a hard situation even harder!
Glad you found a solution for you!

Ugh! I wish I could offer advice, but at least I can sympathize! We have an Acura MDX (nearly paid off so we don't want. to buy a new one!). My daughters are no longer in seats, which helps a little, and my son is in a low back booster. My problem was/is putting two 5pt harnesses in while keeping Ellie RF to age two. I need access to the back seat, so the infant seat can't be installed on that door side. The only solution I came up with was to buckle the infant seat in and out after the other kids are in their seats. so basically he'll be buckled in last, with no base. ugh! Once I turn Ellie, I can fit his base in the middle. So they will be side by side. The things we do for safety!

It is super frustrating. I had to put the infant seat in the middle, using the seatbelt, because there is no latch system in the middle seat, and then DS on one side (just a booster) and DD using the latch behind me.

I would feel better if I could use the latch system in the middle.

Same struggle here! We have a Ford Expedition and had to buy THREE Diono Radians in order to fit everyone across the back and avoid buying a new car! I also need access to the backseat, so no carseat in one of the middle bucket seats. We haven't installed the third (middle) Radian yet. DH is supposed to get that done soon (like yesterday). He is more precise about things and generally does a better job with it, so he is the "official" carseat installer. I am hoping and praying that the last one actually does fit (we have done measurements and it will be close). If not, I guess we will be in the market for a new vehicle, which we really can't afford right now!

When I got prego with DD we had to get a new vehicle sinve I had a geo metro, and DHs car really couldnt fit all 3 car seats in the back of his. Luckily our van has seating for 7, so we shouldnt need to upgrade. We diddid put all 3 kids across the back for our trip this past June, and have done it since when my sister and her kids ride with us (well, her, I, and the 5), but once wee dude is out we wont be able to do that any more either

Well, if it makes you feel any better the middle is the safest place in case of an accident! A good proper seatbelt install is just as safe as latch.
Just a bit annoying getting the baby in and out.
