Default Emotional Day (happy update post 29)

Went to the base clinic after lunch to confirm pregnancy for insurance purposes and to get a referral. The base labs comes back an hour after my yes/no blood draw to say that I'm not pregnant. At all. In the least bit.
    HUH?! What?!
I was not happy to say the least. I managed to keep it together long enough to tell the nurse that at almost 6 weeks pregnant that test should say that I'm pregnant. I have had zero signs of anything concerning and in fact have pregnant symptoms that are due to hcg like nausea. I ask for a beta draw. The nurse will call me back tomorrow afternoon letting me know the results of that, assuming they're in by then (it has to be sent out in town rather than be done in the clinic).
I managed to make it out to the parking lot before crying.
I get home. My husband and best friend (by text) tell me to take more HPTs because if I had an early miscarriage they'd be negative or faint more than likely. I didn't hold my pee or anything and it's mid afternoon mind you.

Reminder, this was my tests with my BFP:

Yeah, I'd say I'm still pregnant according to hcg and they've gotten way darker! The FRER pregnant line is WAY darker than the control line!

Good grief. I'm all emotioned out today.

Any ideas how a blood yes/no test comes up negative with super dark HPTs?!

Hang in there! My best guess is that their lab screwed up. There's no way your hpts are that dark without you being pregnant!

Ugh, that's awful! I don't blame you for being a mess!

It might be that the lab doesn't consider the blood test positive until it reaches a certain level (like 25 or 50). Now, a hpt will pick up numbers smaller than that, but it would be really faint. Did you ask for the actual number instead of just a yes/no answer? There's an outside possibility (really, really low probability) that the hcg has left your bloodstream but is still hanging around in your urine. But it's much more likely that the lab messed up, especially since your test is getting darker.

I agree, the lab must have messed up! Your lines are pretty, maybe make an appointment with your OB to see if they can do a pee test in the office and see what's going on?

Sounds like someone screwed up. I would even go to another clinic... sounds like they may not know what they are doing A lot of times if you go in, get the results somewhere else, the ins. will back date the payments... Deep breaths, and maybe go take a nice bath when you can. Sounds like a bad day

Only clinic I can go to since it's the base military clinic. Need pregnancy confirmation to get the referral to see an OB otherwise it's all out of pocket and won't be reimbursed.
Harmony, they didn't do any numbers today. My 2nd draw for the beta is thankfully being sent to a lab out in town.

My levels have to be way above 25/50 at this point if it's a viable pregnancy. http://www.betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single

I agree, and your hpts wouldn't be so dark if it was just in the 25-50 range. BUT, I have heard of women being told they weren't pg when they were because the lab didn't consider their hcg level "high enough", so it does happen.

Still, the most likely situation is that the lab messed up. Your beta should turn out just fine.

I'm not an expert but the only thing that makes sense is that they screwed up, right? Your HPTs are showing a positive, so a blood draw should be positive. Is the quantitative test being done with the same sample of blood? Would they be willing to draw blood again after you show them your positive tests, just in case that is where the mix up happened?? I am so sorry. I can imagine how frustrated and emotional you are. Definitely KUP and I'm hoping to hear good news from you soon.

I agree, someone at the lab screwed up. There's no way, the blood test would be neg with lines that dark. My hcg was 186 when I had it tested and the test line wasn't even as dark as the control yet. Your test line was so strong it sucked the dye from the control! Try not to worry. I'm sure you'll get good news tomorrow!
