and the fun continues (L&D Visit)

This morning I woke up having a lot of cramps. As I got up, got the littles through the bath, and dressed, i noticed that wee dude wasnt moving. And, the cramps got to the point that they were doubling me over. I got a call from the school saying that DS1 could start school today. So, i took him in, and then called my new ob. They had me go to L&D to get monitored. I went in, got hooked up, and was def contractiong. They did a fetal fib test and checked me... Cervix still high and closed, from what the nurse could tell.
They wanted to monitor me a bit more and wait for the fib test results. While on the monitor wee dude started having d cells. The nurse came in, had me lay on my left side, but it still wasnt going up.
Then, she had me switch to my right side and it came back up. I was on the monitor for a while, and he had a couple more d cells before the doc came in. He came in, looked everything over. Since the fib test was negative, and i wasnt dilating, he wasnt too concerned about the contractions at this point. He said the d cells could be that wee dude was laying on his cord, or even grabbing it. Because it only happened a couple of times while i was there, and he looked great other wise, he was comfortable sending us home. He said that the fact that wee dude is running out of room, and his amnio is on the lower side, and position, that that is probably why I am not feeling him move as much. Plus, at the end they do start sleeping more. When I go in for my first official appt on wed hes going to do an us to look at his growth and amnio levels again. Now I am home, laying on the couch while the kids watch a movie. Dh came to the hospital for a little over an hr after i called about the heart rate drops, but then went back to work... Now hes gotta work late to make up those hrs. Oh well, well be ok Smile

glad everything is looking good - i'm sorry that you keep having some scares, but it's great that you get taken care of and all is well!

I wouldn't worry too much about the heart decels. Some is normal. Even today at my appt there was a change of over 30 hb/m just during the MW getting the usual reading. Zoe was doing a bit of moving which apparently can make it spike up before settling. She said that it can definitely go down too when sleeping. Some babies are affected more than others. Also I remember with my son's birth it's not just the heart decels that matter but really how the baby responds and handles it. Sounds like your man is doing great. Just keep paying attention to the changes like you have. ((hugs))

Renee, my son seemed more active near the end just because every little minor movement felt and looked like a major movement. He took up all the space my uterus back then gave him. I remember ladies on his BB stating that some of their kids slowed down movement due to lack of space where others of us felt way more because our kiddos didn't get the memo that they should rest up as space stopped. Wink He was a fine newborn sleeper and didn't become my non sleeper till after 3 months. lol. But if it makes you feel any better as horrible as his sleep was the first year he's been consistently STTN (despite multiple moves!) this second year. We never did any CIO or sleep training. Over half the kids on his BB now (we're still really active 2 years later!) still don't STTN! They all evened out in the end one way or another.

How scary!! But I'm so glad to read that your little guy is doing well and that you are home resting now. Movies are becoming my best friend lately as I'm wanting/needing more and more resting time. Thank goodness for movies! Great, too, that DS1 was able to start school - how did it go his first day?? Hang in there, mama, thinking of you and sending nice, relaxing thoughts for you and baby!!
