I mentioned it in my post on the check in thread, but I have been having groin pain since thursday. I thought that I had just pulled a muscle or something (though, didnt know how). The pain is on the right side going down the inside of my right leg. Over the past couple of days its just gotten worse, and has been to the point that its become diffiucult to walk. So, this morning, I finally called the on call # to see if there was something that I could do. The on call doc decided it was best for me to go in and get checked out.
I was hooked up to monitors for about 3 hrs. Wee dude's heart rate and activity was great. I was contracting every 3 to 5 min or so. The nurse I had was so nice. She checked me and said my cervix was still high, but definitly soft. She wasnt willing to push too hard to see if I was for sure dilating since I am already contracting and in pain.
It was decided that given my size, and that this is my 4th baby, that the pain is mostly being caused by his weight/position, and the fact that I have a UTI.
So, I was sent home. Still contracting, but not to the "active" point, and not changing enough to keep me yet. I know that it could still be a bit before I actually go into labor, but for me, any change is an indication that something is happening. With DS1 the only changes I ever made on my own was a slighty shortening... even after contracting from 30 weeks on, meds, bed rest, and so on. With DS2, I didnt make any changes till the day I went into labor (lost my mucus plug, then water broke early the next morning... around 12 hrs later) and didnt make significant cervical changes till about 4 hrs after my water broke. With DD I started thinning a bit, and dilated a finger tip at 33 weeks, and was in the hospital on meds to stop labor. So, the fact that it didnt seem like she had to reach up to my tonsels to feel my cervix, and she said it was soft and dimpled, tells me that labor isnt all that far off. I know that each labor is different, and that active labor still could be weeks off...
I am worried that I wont know when labor is really starting... with DS1 and DD I was induced.... with DS2 it was my water breaking. I am already contracting, and the whole stopping me in my tracks doesnt always indicate active labor for sure... so I am hoping that when the time comes, my water breaks. The nurse said really, the only way to know for sure is to either have my water break, or come in and get checked and see if I'm making progress or not.
So, we shall see what the next few weeks brings. One way or another, they all come out in the mean time, I need to figure out how to get wee dude to move to a better position, and get off the nerve/ligament he is resting on so that I can take care of the 3 that are already out
