Groin pain

I mentioned it in my post on the check in thread, but I have been having groin pain since thursday. I thought that I had just pulled a muscle or something (though, didnt know how). The pain is on the right side going down the inside of my right leg. Over the past couple of days its just gotten worse, and has been to the point that its become diffiucult to walk. So, this morning, I finally called the on call # to see if there was something that I could do. The on call doc decided it was best for me to go in and get checked out.

I was hooked up to monitors for about 3 hrs. Wee dude's heart rate and activity was great. I was contracting every 3 to 5 min or so. The nurse I had was so nice. She checked me and said my cervix was still high, but definitly soft. She wasnt willing to push too hard to see if I was for sure dilating since I am already contracting and in pain.

It was decided that given my size, and that this is my 4th baby, that the pain is mostly being caused by his weight/position, and the fact that I have a UTI.

So, I was sent home. Still contracting, but not to the "active" point, and not changing enough to keep me yet. I know that it could still be a bit before I actually go into labor, but for me, any change is an indication that something is happening. With DS1 the only changes I ever made on my own was a slighty shortening... even after contracting from 30 weeks on, meds, bed rest, and so on. With DS2, I didnt make any changes till the day I went into labor (lost my mucus plug, then water broke early the next morning... around 12 hrs later) and didnt make significant cervical changes till about 4 hrs after my water broke. With DD I started thinning a bit, and dilated a finger tip at 33 weeks, and was in the hospital on meds to stop labor. So, the fact that it didnt seem like she had to reach up to my tonsels to feel my cervix, and she said it was soft and dimpled, tells me that labor isnt all that far off. I know that each labor is different, and that active labor still could be weeks off...

I am worried that I wont know when labor is really starting... with DS1 and DD I was induced.... with DS2 it was my water breaking. I am already contracting, and the whole stopping me in my tracks doesnt always indicate active labor for sure... so I am hoping that when the time comes, my water breaks. The nurse said really, the only way to know for sure is to either have my water break, or come in and get checked and see if I'm making progress or not.

So, we shall see what the next few weeks brings. One way or another, they all come out Wink in the mean time, I need to figure out how to get wee dude to move to a better position, and get off the nerve/ligament he is resting on so that I can take care of the 3 that are already out Sad

I had something similar last weekend. He dropped down and was sitting on the nerve running down my right leg. Tingly down my leg, groin pain, low back pain. Fortunately he has shifted enough now that the weight is equally on both sides. My tailbone is killing me! I have never gone into labor on my own, so I am nervous about figuring out when contractions are strong and consistent enough to get me admitted. I do not want to go sit in L&D and then be sent home. So I am hoping if I go early my water just breaks. The end us near, either way!

I just got a call from my ob and was told to stop taking the antibiotic the on call doc prescribed. Turns out I dont have a UTI. There were trace amounts of white blood cells in my urine, so that and my symptoms, the on call doc had decided just to treat me. But, the cultures came back and there is no bacteria. So, looks like everything going on has to do with baby and my body getting ready.

Last night was horrible. I had spent a lot of the day outside, going to a couple of parks with the kids, gettingyard work done...weve been stuck in the house alot lately Sad Well, after getting the kids through the tub, I sat down on the couch to rest a bit. All of a sudden I got really nausous, back pain, flushed in the face, and my contractions got worse. I ate something and started feeling a bit better, though the contractions kept going. I had to have DH help me off the couch so that I could run to the bathroom... My tummy def didnt like whatever I ate...

So, the rest of the night I had DH rub my back, layed on the couch, and took tylonal pm and went to bed. This morning my tummy seems a bit on edge, but not horrible. Im also having a few more contractions than I tend to..at least more noticable ones, but nothing like last night. I know it could still be a while, but I just have a feeling that he will be here sooner than later...

Kier, I'm feeling a lot of the same things you are! I am feeling almost constant contractions it seems, some more like BH, and some getting much more uncomfortable and almost painful. Like you, I'm hoping I know when it's time to go to the hospital! I feel like right now, I am just waiting for my water to break and give me the go ahead!! I have a lot of pelvic pain, especially on the left side due to the way my little one is sitting. I have been wearing compression socks and that has helped so much with my swelling, I wish I had tried that sooner!! TMI alert - I have also spent a lot of time in the bathroom today it seems, like my body is evacuating everything possible! Better here and now though, is what I say Wink I have been wondering if things are going to get going for me for the past several days. I think I lost my mucous plug last Weds/Thurs. We are getting close!

I think I may ask my doc about getting some compression socks at my appt on wed. I never would have even thought about that, thank you. Today i have had an obsessive drive to get my house in order. I cleaned asnd vacuumed the living room, i cleaned and sweot the kitchen and dinning area, and am now taking a break from putting laundry away. I got the kids's stuff put away before they went down for naps, and am working on getting DH and my stuff put away. After i get back from picking Ds1 up from school i am planning on giving the kids time to run around and ride their ride on toys down in the basement so I can get our storage area cleaned up a bit and some boxes that are still in the main part of our place, that we just havent gotten around to un packing, brought down there just to get them out of the way.

The groin pain and contractions are making it hard to move too faat, but its gotta be done...and i just feel that if I dont get it done soon then ill be coming home to the mess with a newborn...and i really wont have time to doit then Sad
