I need a distraction

I've decided I need to distract myself a bit, try to focus on something other than TTC, I think I'm starting to stress DH out a bit. He was always to positive but now he's saying maybe fate has decided we shouldn't have a baby Sad I know it's starting to get to him too and he feels so helpless when I"m crying over it. So I've decided I need to distract myself with something. Preferably something that will occupy my thoughts enough so that I don't obsess as much....

Suggestions???

Trust me when I say I definitely understand the need for a distraction. I try to keep busy by reading books or redecorating my home. More recently though, I have started cooking and baking more which proves to be a pretty good distraction, and my DH wins too by getting to eat all of the cooked/baked goods Wink

Thanks Michelle!
My co workers would benefit from me baking right now, and there's one in particular who's been harassing me to bring in food.. he's in the middle of a nasty divorce and "Mama Bear isn't feeding me anymore, someone's got to! I'm wasting away here" lol I love to read and I go through books like most people do movies! easily one a day on the weekend! I'm trying to get back into Pinterest.com again, I was addicted to it at first but have strayed away a bit, i've got tons of for the home ideas pinned Smile

House cleaning always keeps my mind of TTC. I must say that since we found out that we will be able to do IVF in November my house has been immaculate. One could eat of my floors Biggrin

For me, my schooling was keeping me kind of distracted. Now that I am on a break until March, I am going crazy over here. I am trying to read, and cook, and exercise. I am uber focused on TTC and it is so hard when each month AF shows. I understand.

We've decided not to move up North (unless they offer a ton of money then DH might change his mind) so now we're trying to find a new house here, but I think we might go on a trip first, either south (mexico/cuba/dominican) or to Arizona for a week. not really sure, I think I'd be ok with either, the house in Zona is free and private which is nice but DH is thinking 'all inclusive' and sitting by the beach... Ugh so many things and I have a tendancy to get obsessive.....

Oooh, a trip sounds wonderful! I live where it is FREEZING cold in the winter time so sitting by the beach sounds fabulous! Smile Although I hear Arizona is beautiful (never been) so both sound like a great place to go!

Crystal, a fun trip would be a great distraction. Smile You both could def use it. As for distractions, the ladies have some good suggestions. I'm a real outdoors buff and find winters are where I get stir crazy most often. Talking a walk on a trail? Out of the question when it's wet/cold/muddy. Crochet? Photography? Art? A creative outlet might help you unwind.

Where in Arizona? DH and I went for a romantic weekend in Sedona in May. I am literally dying to go back. It was well worth the 18 hours virtually non-stop that I drove.

Kim, my parents own a house in Maricopa, just outside Phoenix. We went in September for a family trip and it was so nice! the backyards are walled so it's very private and they have a small pool (perfect for skinny dipping! hehe) If we opt for this trip we might wait till april and see if we can round up a couple to go with. Still not sure yet.
I need something that does not involve DH in order to spare him from my obsession! I think I may have found a project though, I have a doll house that I built when I was 12/13,that I finally got back from my grandmother, I'm 'redecorating' it for DD! I'll post pics later today of the beginings of the remodel!

My "hobbies": photography (finding this one VERY expensive; I haven't forked over money we don't have for equipment yet) and exercise. I decided if my body isn't going to get pregnant it's going to be in damn good shape for a 38 year old body.

Can't wait to see the dollhouse remodel pictures!

The dollhouse project is a fantastic idea! How fun! I can't wait to see pics. Biggrin

Oh and a trip to Arizona sounds like so much fun! You know....Las Vegas is only about 6 hours away from Phoenix! Wink

OMG--the hubby and I are headed to Scottsdale on February 15th for a little 5 day vacation. Never been there before and very excited for a little getaway. Luckily for me, I have to be there for work on the 15th, so my flight was payed for by the company. Yippee!

I'm like Beth--if I need to distract myself I usually lace up my running shoes and head out or head to the gym. Hard for me to focus on much else when I am working out. I also like cooking (and drinking a little wine while doing so!) Sometimes if I feel like cooking I will prep meals I don't even plan to eat right then and then freeze them for easy dinners later in the week.

We actually thought about flying into Vegas and driving from there, flights and car rentals are cheaper Smile

I used to run 5K a day, I think it's time to get the treadmill cleaned off! I love to cook too, with DH gone right now I've not done much cooking except on weekends, I'm looking forward to him coming home in a few weeks (and not just for a weekend!) Smile

Wow congrats on the awesome raise! That's exciting! I know it seems like you can't take the vacation you want, but what about a mini-vacation? Just get out of the town, stay in a nice hotel, you know, celebrate each other and his new raise Smile

We'll have to see, it all depends on house sales and closings, we're in a good position to buy since we're still in my parents house here (they live in the granny suite), I've been here since my divorce and my folks wanted us to stay - so we did! LOL I'm done my contract at the end of March so I'd like to be ready to move then since DH will be staying up there M-F and has been there since right after new years. Smile Maybe once we get settled in tho, Montreal isn't too far away!

Well, I just planned DH and I a mini-vacation for a distraction because of you CRYSTAL.

At the end of March, we are flying into Dallas and then driving to Wortham for a Tough Mudder competition. DH is going to be so surprised this weekend when I give him the travel arrangements for his anniversary present. He has been begging me to figure out how we could go to a Tough Mudder competition in Southern Cali for a few months now and I just decided that we would go to one sooner, and further away so we could have a real mini-trip.

That's awesome Kim!
I'm hoping that once we figure out the housing situation we can take at least a quick trip to Quebec City or Montreal, since they'll both be even closer. I'm in super saver mode knowing that we'll (hopefully :goodluck:) be buying a house at the end of next month, we've been so bad at saving up till now! I figured out we should be able to have most of our down payment in about 3 weeks if we save properly (that should tell you how much money we've wasted) and the rest my inlaws may be able to help out with so we can move quickly with a house sale. Went looking online last night and found a few REALLY nice houses, one we both love, so here's hoping it waits for us....

Congrats on the move, Crystal! How exciting! That's a great distraction! I LOVE house hunting (even when we aren't even thinking of moving).

Plus a new city means new doctors... I'm hoping and praying that the wait is shorter up there, not taking myself off the wait list or giving up my doctor yet but there's a tiny bit of hope we may get in sooner...

Doing the TM or just the mini-vacation?

I am getting excited. We have Reno in 2 weeks, then Texas in March, and I just found out DH is being sent for training to Georgia and Florida in July. I think I may take a few days and meet him in Florida for a weekend.

Well, both I suppose Smile Was talking about the TM but now that you mention it, we have been discussing going to either Chicago or Las Vegas (probably Chicago though)

Well I now have tons of distractions! I've got to get the house here sorted and packed, find a new house there, I'm working on the doll house, I've got a move to organize and DD's got a new evaluation coming up for Aspergers so I'll be researching the heck out of that!

YAY Crystal!! So happy to hear all of the news!
Dollhouse- Im jealous! My Gma and me built one for years together when i was little, she was sooo detailed and made the wallpaper and little flower pots and we'd make furniture- then she gave it to me (which i wish she didnt) and my a-hole dad threw it away when we moved.. the one thing in the world I wish I had back.
MOVING!!!!!!! YAY!!!! I looove house hunting.. This should be a HUGE distraction.
I'm trying to distract myself as well, exercise/losing weight, and house projects sound like a great idea, I really want to finish/start the playroom upstairs, as welll as other little projects I keep putting off.
I wish I was more crafty!!!
