Steph,

I'm so sorry that you are going through this! I have posted a note on your CaringBridge site (which while I abhor the need, I LOVE that site!) As others have expressed, unfortunately we do have some mamas that truly do understand what you are going through. Both Nicky and Angela are terrific ladies and perhaps can help you navigate the road ahead a little bit. We ALL, however, are here to support you, Joshua, and all your family as you face the surgery, recovery, and healing process.

I didn't post this on CaringBridge but do want to provide you with another thought of encouragement. I know how very much (understandably!) Joshua is at front and center. PLEASE, however, take some time to take care of YOU so that you *can* continue to be there for Joshua and your other two little ones! I know how easy it can be to push your own needs to the back burner (I'm Queen of that!) -- but you *did* just give birth and have been running ever since. We know you are going through your own "recovery" time as well. Keys *not* to be missed: Staying hydrated (water!); eating something nourishing when you can; consider adding an iron supplement given your circumstances surrounding your birth (you may want to check with your doctor to verify but it can help restore those levels which will give you more energy needed to get through this... and rest (no -- it is not intended as an oxymoron!) These will help strengthen you physically and emotionally. Smile

(((((HUGS))))) Hang in there!

This is very important. I was told so many times how mamas don't take care of themselves when they go through this. It really is important. Especially while your LO is a baby it will be easier to do, so take advantage of the ability. When your LO is older it will get harder to go do simple things (take a shower, eat, etc.) so do it now while you can. Many (((Heart Hugs))).

Just saw this and am sending you and Joshua lots of good thoughts.

My step son went through open heart surgery 2 time in his first 6 weeks, and a long 8-hour one just last year at 13yo. Still very fresh in my mind. Wishing a happy outcome for everyone! Please update when you get a chance, and be sure to take care of yourself!
