With our due dates so close to the holidays...

What do you think you will do about Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas?

With the 3 older kids, I am guessing I may have to get someone to go out with my hubby and the kids (that is, if I'm not having the baby... my sister keeps insisting that I will have the baby on Halloween). I am hoping that I will be able to go with them, but there is a good chance that I wont be able to do that much walking.

I dont know about Thanksgiving. Being due the day before, I guess I could be in the hospital. I was induced 10 days early with my 1st, and that was my longest pregnancy, so there is a good chance that I wont be. I am really not sure about having a brand new baby at a holiday event like that... So, I guess we shall see.

One of the things I'm kinda stressing thinking about is Christmas shopping. There is no way I am going to take a breast feeding new born out in those crowds. Also, we usually try to do some day after thanksgiving sales... definitely not sure that will be happening this year lol. DH can probably do most of it himself. I just really enjoy it, and making sure that they get certain things he may overlook. I am guessing that by Christmas we should be pretty settled, and up for get togethers. We shall see though. All will depend on eating/sleeping habits Smile

I hadn't really given halloween too much thought. Hoping I'll be able to make it without a problem. We don't do a lot, just carving, a few spiderwebs and trick or treating. For Thanksgiving, I have no idea if I'll have this baby by then or not. I'm kind of hoping I do, just so I can say I don't have time to make anything.... Is that evil? For christmas, I know I'm hoping to have all my shopping done by Septmeber or October at the latest. I really don't want to have to go out at all with a newborn. I'd prefer to just mostly stay inside till January.

Our family doesn't really 'do' Halloween (except for buying half-price candy the day after! Biggrin ), so that's no big deal for us. Actually, we're not really big on celebrating any holidays. Lol

After Pearl was born, MIL came and stayed with us for 3 weeks. And after my surgery in November, she stayed with us from just after Thanksgiving to New Year's. I'm assuming she'll be doing the same this year. My parents are local, but they usually go visit my grandmothers for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and they live 4 and 7 hours away. Also complicating things is the fact that my sister is due one week before me. Smile

So my guess is that Christmas and Thanksgiving will be small family affairs. We'll probably do Thanksgiving with just our house (Me, DH, Pearl... possibly new baby, and MIL). There's an outside chance we'll have Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house (she lives 10 min away, but she's also really cautious about germs with her newborns, and that many people at one time might scare her). If my parents decide to stay in town, they'll probably come over to visit both me and my sister while they're off work. They might even decide to stay at my sister's house for their entire vacation just so they get more grand-baby time. Smile For Christmas, my guess is FIL will have joined us at that point, and we'll just do Christmas as usual. We'll probably do a family gift exchange at my sister's house at some point.

And definitely doing ALL my Christmas shopping online this year! Wink

Not worried about Halloween at all. It would be a long shot if I'm not still pregnant then. I will most likely be induced a week early, so on the 16th or around there. My parents will come into town and my mom will do all the cooking, etc for Thanksgiving. I had surgery 2 days before Thanksgiving last year, so I assume things will be similar to that with them coming to help. I will also have all my shopping done well before baby time. Again, my family will probably come into town for Christmas as well. My DD was born on Dec. 23rd, I was out of the hospital on the 24th, so everyone just came to us. It was hectic having lots of people in the house, but they were great about taking care of themselves and cooking/cleaning for me so I didn't have to play hostess. I guess my only real concern is throwing DD a birthday party a couple of weeks after the baby is born. We'll probably just have it at a kid place where they do everything for you, so all I'll have to do it bring the cake and some favors.

I am wondering what's going to happen because right now my due date is Nov 29th and I'm having a repeat CS which is usually 1 week before... that would be Thanksgiving day. So I'll have to ask my Dr. about it when it gets closer.

I'm not worried about Halloween or Christmas at all. Unless I have pre-term labor Halloween won't matter much and I don't do a lot of Christmas shopping anyway- I shop mostly online where I can just stay at home Smile

Aiden was "due" October 22nd. Thought for sure I'd have a baby by Halloween. Even bought him a newborn onesie for Halloween. Yeah.....he was born Nov 2nd. Blum 3 This time around I'm assuming I won't have a baby till after Thanksgiving ("due date" of Nov 15th). Lol Not planning a darn thing for any holiday. I'll take them as they come. Not worried about DS's birthday or Christmas at all - that's why there is Amazon (free 2 day shipping with prime!) and store bought ready to eat food. Wink If anyone wants to see us they have cars and there are hotels.

Of course there's a chance that we could be moving over Christmas. If that happens I'll panic. Blum 3

I'm not sure. I'm thinking that I'll have this baby right around Halloween, since I am due Nov 2nd and I haven't gone over that yet. Thanksgiving, DH is working, so we'll probably go up to the fire station for Thanksgiving dinner, just like we done for the past few years, lol! Christmas will probably be online shopping, or if I have to go out, I'll be going in the mornings and wearing baby.

I am so tired of moving. I've moved twice this winter. If we move next winter it'll be across the country or overseas. Really hoping someone takes pity on us and let's us stay here for awhile! The thought of moving with a toddler and newborn is overwhelming!
(DH is military.)

I"m due Nov. 1 and will have a repeat c section so my guess is this LO is coming before Halloween. I"m just wondering because both my kids were early, My son was 5 days early but my daughter was 3.5 weeks early (even had a scheduled c section but she wanted me to labor and apparently didn't like that day! She was due June but wanted a Memorial Day bday LOL!) So not sure what my kids will do for Halloween since I may bein the hospital. My bday is Nov.6 so I do not plan on doing anything that day! That's for sure! I can blame it on the baby but I don't want to celebrate 33 either!

I couldnt imagine having a move that big with a toddler, plus to then add a newborn to the equation. Fingers crossed that your request to stay where your at gets granted. We have moved 7 times since we got married 6 years ago. We have been where we are now 2 years in August. Our moves have been due to the fact that my husband works in a field that is majorly contract to hire positions, and most companies choose to not hire because its cheaper to keep getting contract employees. Just the way the economy is right now. Luckily we have been able to stay in WI each time, but its still a pain Sad

I'm due Oct 30 and DS3's BD is Nov 1. My doc asked me if I want to go past my due date and I said no. I would rather go into labor on my own bu I've ended up being induced with all my kids for various reasons. I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that I'll prob get induced again (still praying to go on my own though!). So with that being said, I would love to be home from the hospital in time to go trick or treating with the boys and to be with DS3 on his Bday. My doc actually wanted to induce me with him on Halloween but I said no. I wanted to go trick or treating with my boys. I remember walking and trick or treating for almost 2 hours with the boys trying to jump start labor. Didn't work and induction went as scheduled the next day. Really hoping my inlaws will be here for Thanksgiving to help out(they're 15 hours away). It's always at our house with my parents and my brother and his girlfriend. I usually get stuck with most of the prep and clean up but my MIL is awesome about helping and I know it would be so much easier if they were here.

I'm hoping DH is home by Halloween (praying for no more extensions). I'm probably having a c-section the Monday before Thanksgiving (though, I'm going to push for the Friday before). Either way, I'll have the shopping done and the recipes out. DH and DS will manage with a little supervision. Christmas should be the usual... I'll have shopping done (mostly online) by December and only have to worry about dinner, wrapping, setting presents out and Church services.

I'm used to holidays without DH and with three kids, so I guess holidays with DHs help and four kids don't seem too bad. We don't have any family that visits or that we visit, so it's pretty easy. We usually travel to visit families around new years, we'll see about that one.
