Plugged ears and stuffy nose.... CONSTANTLY.

My ears finally popped for the day! This has to be the most annoying side effect of this pregnancy so far. My ears keep getting super blocked up with leads to super sinus pressure. I feel like I've constantly got a sinus headache but once my ears pop, generally mid morning or so, the pressure disappears. Suggestions are welcome!

Ive had stuffiness with each of my pregnancies, but its generally resolved itself by the end of the first trimester. I have noticed that I am a bit more stuffy lately, but I think that has to do with my allergies and the season. Have you tried a netty pot, or even getting one of those nasal saline sprays for kids? May help a bit. I would also talk to your doc about maybe getting a script for flonase or something safe for pregnancies. Pregnancy induced allergies are very common. Hang in there, I hope it gets better for you sooner than later Smile

Saline spray is about all I can think of for your nose. Any saline is fine - like Oceans brand (usually cheaper than kid name brands).

But would that help my ears? Thats the mostly annoying part. Its like being on an airplane and not being able to pop them.

Clearing up part of your sinus should help the rest! Common to be all connected. Smile

Your inner ear canal (behind your ear drum) is connected to all your sinuses. What is probably going on is that one of the tubes is blocked, more than likely by swelling and gunk. You cant really rinse it out via your ear because of your ear drum being in the way. So, your nose is the best way to do it as it has the best access to all of your sinuses Smile

My ear has been doing the same thing! So annoying! I asked my doc at my appt this week and she checked it first to make sure it was clear and then said I could take benadryl. She said it can help clear up congestion which can be worse during pregnancy.
