I am taking Blackmores Pregnancy Gold, does it look alright?
and also, do i need to take the standard dose folic acid that my midwife prescribed to me also, or does the vitamin supplement cover it enough?
Oh and should i stop taking my normal dose of Vit C?
Sorry if this is a stupid question...I didn't take supplements (only folic acid) in my first pregnancy so I am not sure and I don't want to bother my midwife with such a minor question.
It doesnt look like your prenatal has vit. C so I think you should be safe to take that one. I wouldnt take the extra folic, just till you get in and talk with your MW. Some vitamins can store up in your body and become toxic if you take too much. I dont think folic is one of those, but better to be safe than sorry. If you dont want to wait to talk to your MW then you could always go to a pharmacy and ask a pharmacist. They would also know how much is safe to take. I personally am taking a prenatal that my doc. proscribed, as well as a b6 vit (only 25 megs) and the fish oil (omega 3).
It looks like it only has 250 mcg of folic acid, and at least 400 is recommended for pregnant women (some prenatal vitamins have twice that amount or more), so I would definitely take folic acid with it. And I bet your midwife wouldn't mind you calling and asking a question like that. It's what they're there for.
Personally, aside from folate and calcium (our family is nearly dairy-free), I view supplementation as a stop-gap measure. I feel like healthy diets should provide most vitamins and minerals in reasonable amounts. I do take a prenatal, but it's a gummy prenatal and so it isn't 'complete'. I take it mostly for the omega-3 and folic acid. With my last pregnancy, I took 1 children's chewable vitamin (so about 50% RDA for everything) and an extra folic acid pill every day. My midwife was okay with that.

I would switch to a different prenatal or take extra folic acid. Every prenatal I've ever taken (I always take a prenatal while I'm in my child bearing years) has 800 mcg of folic acid.
Definitely not a silly question for your midwife! It's actually a great one.

That said, thats only around half what you should take, especially in the first trimester. I was too nauseous to swallow my prenatals (they're huge!) so I just went out and bought straight up folic acid, in 1mg doses. And I take 2 chewable kids vitamins a day to get iron and other extra vitamins and stuff in me.
I would take an additional folic acid since it appears yours doesn't have quite enough. Extra vitamin C is fine.
LOVE my prenatal. Highly recommend it!
