Re-thinking my guesstimate

I've been induced with all my boys so I thought for sure I'd go til my induction date this time. Now, I'm starting to rethink that. I had a ton of pubic pressure and pain yesterday and have been having contractions off and on all day for the last 2 days. Tonight they are seem to be lasting longer and the pain is spreading from my belly down into my upper thighs. I think I lost part of my mucus plug tonight as well. I've never gone into labor on my own so I'm a little nervous. I don't know how my body will do if I go into labor. With this being #6, it could go fast. With all the boys, once I hit 5-6 I went really fast (fully dilated within 1 1/2 hours). If I do get lucky and go into labor on my own, I don't want to rush to the hospital but I don't want to wait too long either. Maybe my water will break and that will decide for me! DH is working a 24 hour shift tomorrow 50 minutes away so that has me stressed. I could be completely wrong but something just feels different. I just feel like this baby will be here sooner rather than later.

Oh wow! This could be exciting! Maybe come up with a just in case back up plan even if its not the best one (to watch your kids and take you to the hospital)? If you've had good experiences with hospital inductions in the past, why not go to the hospital when you're sure you're in active labor? While I usually agree with waiting to go in just because the longer you're there the higher your chances are to have interventions that negatively affect birth, I'd say after 5 kids you probably already know what's going on and what works for you. Wink You're just shy of 38 weeks, so it may be go time soon!

What you are describing sounds a lot like what happened to me when I went into labor with DS2. How far apart are the contractions? With DS2 I contracted all day, and lost my mucus plug through out the day. At about 8pm my contractions were doubling me over. I took some pain meds and went to bed. I was up a few times with contractions, and finally at 4:20am my water broke. I would say given your dilation already, I wouldnt wait all night. Maybe time them for an hour or so, if you have more than 6 in an hour, go in. I'm guessing that this might be it, and you may be holding your LO in the next 24 or so hours Smile KUP!!!

Wahoo, you sound like you are on the brink!! I can't wait to find out what you are having! I understand the stress though...I hope it all works out perfectly!

I'm nervous about making it to the hospital as well. My last baby was born 4 minutes after we arrived at the hospital in the hallway. She came FAST. And we lived 5 min from the hospital at the time. Right now, we are 35 min from the hospital!! I'm with Jackie...I hate showing up too early and having them intervene with my labor. I want to show up just in time to have a baby, not too soon, and definitely not too late!!

The contractions are fairly irregular. Five minutes then ten, then 5, and then maybe 15. Just drank a glass of water and I think I'll go lay down and see what happens. It would just be so awesome to finally go into labor on my own!

Oh, this sounds promising! Not the best timing with your husband's work, but still. Your body is doing a great job! Whether it's tonight or sometime in the next week or two, my guess is you're not going to need that induction. Smile

Well I had several fairly intense contractions last night but they've let up. I'm just going to try and get the house ready today and finish packing my bag so if labor does start, I'll be ready. I am so curious to know if I've dilated more!

Thats exciting!!! I keep thinkig about you and was wondering if your LO would come soon!
All I have is annoying cramps that are such a pain- so uncomfortable yet not actual contrax that amount to anything.
I'm pretty sure I wont go into labor on my own and will get induced!
I was thinking if I had 3+ kids I'd be more likely to go into labor on my own but after reading your post I guess that's not the case!
