Restless Leg Syndrome

I have never ever experienced this before, but I am quite sure I have been experienceing it lately. It seems like I have suddenly had a huge increase in unpleasant pregnancy symptoms over the past couple weeks like fatigue, weak spells, killer heartburn, etc and now RLS! I told DH this morning that I don't remember feeling quite so uncomfortable so early in my last pregnancy...
With all that being said, every night for the past week or so I have been having this uncontrollable urge to move my legs all around. It starts right before I go to bed, usually when I begin to feel really sleepy. I literally can not stop moving them. I do eventually fall asleep only to wake back up a few hours later when I have to pee or I get uncomfortable, but then I can't fall back asleep because my LEGS WON'T LET ME BE STILL. It's the dumbest, most craziest thing ever. I have been able to tolerate it until last night. I was literally awake from 2:30-5:00AM trying to relax and fall back asleep and I couldn't stop them from moving. And they cramp up quite a bit too. I am going to eat like 3 bananas this evening and see if it helps at all. I googled it and apparently this is not super uncommon in pregnancy. Has anyone ever had it? Did you find anything to be helpful?

I dont know if I would classify mine as restless legs, or just anxiety/being uncomfortable. I have found that watching my caffiene intake (making sure I stick to one a day... and not cheating) and then taking Tylonal PM has helped with the pain and being able to sleep for longer stretches. I'm sure that the extra potassium would also help, especially with the cramping.

I had it with last pregnancy and am just starting to have it off and on this time. It was awful by the end! I have found 1/2 a unisom to help (I only take it if I start to have symptoms). If I still have trouble I move out to the couch, use a cushion to elevate my feet, and put a heating pad between my calves. This usually allows me to fall asleep. Benadryl and Tylenol pm will make it worse because of the diphenhydramine. It took me a while to figure that out, but I finally googled it and sure enough it contributes to the symptoms! I have noticed a difference with bananas, but they give me heartburn Blum 3

I had it in the beginning - and it's starting up again, but so far it hasn't been as frequent as the beginning --i completely understand, you actually cannot sleep - it is SO ANNOYING!!!!!!! ... i thought taking walks would help and it didn't, i don't know what helps, i never researched anything. if you find the answer let me know!

I get this at night too, it sucks! I have to get up and walk around my dark empty house and then try to sleep again. The past couple nights I stayed up later than I would have liked to make sure I was dead tired, and it did help. Since I've been staying up later, I've also gotten more sewing done for the baby so I guess it's a win-win!? Haha! I'm all alone here for a while hubs trains for his new job, so the sewing has helped improve my mood as well, which I'm sure the kids appreciate! Smile
