Sciatica?

I've always had some issues with my sciatic nerve, when I lost a bunch of weight it seemed to subside and I didn't have an issue with it even when I was pregnant with DS. Even though I haven't gained any weight this pregnancy it seems like my sciatic nerve is pinched or something. The last few days have been excruciating with my right leg just deciding not to hold up my weight at times because of the pain.

Anyone else having sciatic nerve pain? And what do you do to relieve it?

mine started a while ago. I had it with DD too.. down my left leg. I have a vertebra that is slid forward, so I am prone to more back aches in general, but the sciatic stuff only while pregnant. It has to do with your uterus/baby pushing on the right nerve, as well as your belly growing out, causing your spine to be pulled forward. I didnt have it with my first 2, but I think it had more to do with DD's and this baby's position than anything else...

I've had it this entire pregnancy. The only thing that I can get to help it is practicing some yoga. there are some great streches that can help it temporarily. I have heard women say to go to a chiropractor but I have not tried it yet. The other thing that I have used is icy hot. that seems to either help or mask the pain. lol I know it's terrible and I hope you can find some relief soon.

I wanted to add. When I have spoke with my dr. about this he has said he could refer me to a physical therapist. However they would just show me a bunch of streches that I could do. Yoga has been a much cheaper and calming experience for me.

I have found the Chiropractor really helps... as well as DH massaging my lower back, butt, and the back of my thigh with a tennis ball. The stretching and Yoga are things to do too Smile

I've been wanting to try some yoga but I haven't yet, I'll have to try that out. My co-pay for specialists is 40$ so there is no way I want to pay that to go to a chiropractor. And Kier that's a good idea about the tennis ball massage, DH is a foreman so his hands are super rough and he always pushes too hard when I ask for a massage. We may have to try this as well. Biggrin thanks!
