Sick and running out of ideas!

The whole family including Zoe is sick right now. She saw the ped a few days ago for her 2 week appt. He said it's just a cold and use saline (which it is just a cold, just a miserable one!). Since then I've been doing saline and BM and neither has helped much for her nose. Her nose is soooo stuffy, but it's in the back so nose syringes aren't helping at all. Been keeping her upright in arms, swing, bouncer, etc. Cool mist humidifier hasn't helped. She's getting frustrated, so she cries, and then crying makes it worse of course. Tried the whole steamy hot shower thing too last night and that actually made it worse! Sad We're not sleeping at all because this girl just screams from being so miserable. It's affecting her nursing now. Any ideas? We never needed more than what we've already done for my son's colds!

I'm sorry you guys are all sick, that's awful!! Poor Zoe. My last DD got sick as a newborn too, and I remember crying at night because I couldn't do much to help her.

Have you seen this:
NoseFrida Snot Sucker Nasal Aspirator ? Walmart.com

I haven't tried one yet, but I heard they work WAY better at clearing congestion than the bulbs. I hope she clears up soon so you can enjoy her to the fullest!

Yeah I heard the same thing but ended up getting the graco electronic one and surprisingly he will sit still for that and not cry but when I try with the regular bulb aspirator he freaks out.

How long has the cold been going on? My Ds2 had cronic sinus infections, and still gets them pretty easily. If it gets to be 10+ days I would take her back in and get an antibiotic. Sonetimes their immune systems just need the extra help. Another thing thay may help isa nasal steroid spray. It may be that her adnoids are inflamed, and with already small nasal passages it doesnt take much to make it hard for them to breathe or for things to drain.

It'll be a week tomorrow. She is doing better today thankfully! Last night DH and I took turns dealing with her (I stayed up till 4:30am with her and then DH took over till 11am). Kept her upright the whole night. Lots of walking around. She didn't scream nearly as much. I think having someone dedicated to her the whole night helped. Today her nursing is better and she's spent some time awake and content! Hoping we're headed towards well days. Blum 3 Even I am feeling better finally!

Newborns shouldn't be allowed to get sick!!!
