So mad at my OB!

So, after some spotting and intense bad back pain yesterday, I bucked up and went to L&D (I'm trying to NOT be that FTM who goes at the drop of everything but after the bleeding started. I went.)

Uterus is all closed up, no dilation, baby is fine (I heard his little hiccups - cutest thing ever!) heartbeat is good, etc. etc. , however, my cervix is super short. Why did my OB not inform me of this? Seriously!

They gave me a shot of celestone (steroids) and I have to go back this morning for an ultrasound and another round of the steroid shot.

This makes me sort of nervous - he needs to bake a little while longer, preferably until mid to late October.

And during all this, my bf's ex won't take her kid back because this 'isn't a valid reason for me to stop my life to take her back" -- WE took her this weekend as a FAVOUR because she was MOVING. He called her and she was DRUNK. She is SUCH a loser. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH which just makes me even madder.... It's not even OUR weekend to have her, we took her because my bf went out of town last weekend on his weekend, so he took her this weekend because the b!tch is moving. But her "moving" is going out of town to party. Gah she's such a loser.

I wouldnt be mad at your OB. The shortening is something that she may not have noticed if she hasnt done a pelvic in a while. Also, it may be something new... I walked into L&D at 36 weeks with my water broke, but not even dilated with DS2... with DD my FIB test came back pos. at 33 weeks, went in that day to get the 1st shot, ultrasound showed that my cervix was shortening but not dilated... went back in a few hours labor when my meds at home werent stopping my contrax and I was dilated a finger tip. Nobody can predict how things are going to happen.

Hopefully with bedrest, and some meds, you will be able to keep him a cooking a bit longer. Just because your cervix is short doesnt mean he is coming right now, you could still have a few weeks, but it does mean that its time to slow down, get off your feet, and be. The fact that you are able to get both shots in is awesome. I really think thats why my early birds did so well Smile Every day, and week, further you can get him the better (they say a day inside of mom is worth a week in the NICU), but also know that at this stage his chances are good that if he is born that with the help of a good NICU he will be ok Smile

As far as your bf's ex goes, sounds like shes a real winner. Try not to let it get to you (I know, easier said than done) and just relax and focus on what you can do to keep little man in.... let your BF deal with his baby mamma drama... in the end, its his, not yours Wink

THey have always told me the length of my scervix was fine at my ultrasound so I don't know if it was a problem at your ultrasound or not. If it was within normal range at the time, nothing to report. But things can change, yikes!

I hope baby bakes a while longer and sorry to hear about your bf's ex. I can't imagine dealing with something like that in addition to everything else.

Apparently it's "short, but not short to worry yet, with starting maternity leave next week, you won't need to be on direct bed rest just keep it easy" blah. I got both shots in, and don't see him coming anytime soon really (I don't even think I've had any BH yet -- I could be wrong though) I felt like crap all day, fever of 99 (which sent me all out of whack) so I left work at lunch time and slept until 5... I can't eat, I still feel real hot.

now I'm having this left hip pain, can't even put pressure on my foot, and I can't walk more then a minute without needing a heating pad for an hour because the pain is so bad.

IS IT NOVEMBER YET??? I'll settle for October 29th. I'll be 36 weeks then which is still "considered full-term" and I wanna have him then Sad

Oh, I just love that term... they get you all ryled up, thinking that this is it, to just be like "well, its changing, but not enough to worry" wth??? Why freak a prego out over nothing major?

as far as the hip/leg pain goes, I would seriously suggest a chiropractor visit. Has helped me a ton with this, and my last, pregnancy. Hopefully being on mat. leave will help things calm down as far as the discomforts go. 36 weeks isnt considered term, though its not really premature. Its in that bracket of pre term. My last 2 were always measured on the preemie charts because they were born before 37 weeks (considered term)... even DD who was born 2 days before 37 weeks. The majority of babies born at 36 weeks do fine, but there is still that worry about lung development.... though, like I said, I really think that my kids having had the steroids helped with that.

I really hope that this is all just a bump in the road for you, and that you start feeling better, and more comfortable. Hang in there mama, I know it doesnt feel like it, but Nov. will be here before you know it, and this will all be a distant memory.

I hope you'Re right!

I'm going to call for chiro once I start my Mat leave next Friday (since I'll have all kinds of time in the world) because the pain is soo bad, a 2 minute walk and I am in excruciating pain. Sad

Considering I am only having one baby, I really want to enjoy pregnancy, but I am having a hard time right now Sad

I just watched the new movie "What to Expect when you're expecting" I loved it. I especially like what one of the characters says about pregnancy, and then of course, what she says once the baby is born. I wont give any more away than that so I dont ruin it for those who havent seen it. But, I really think what she says is right on the money, and you will totally relate Wink
