Default For those of you who celebrate Christmas

I'm just curious if anyone is planning on decorating early?

I am - today I am taking down my Fall decorations to decorate for Christmas. I hate to rush the seasons, usually after Halloween I take down the Halloween-ish Fall decorations but I leave up my Fall decorations (I decorate more for Fall than Halloween, because I do leave the stuff up until right after Thanksgiving).

But, this year, since my due date is 2 days after Thanksgiving, I've decided to take everything down early (considering our Governor postponed Halloween & Trick-or-Treating until November 5, I left everything up until now, unfortuntely I only got 2 sets of trick-or-treaters!!!)...

Last night DH pulled all the boxes down from the attick and I woke up this morning at 5:00am and I took down all the Fall decorations, and I dusted!... Then i went back to bed, now I'm just having my usual day until I decide to put out all the Christmas decoratons - and of course blast my Christmas music! Aside from this making sure it's all done for when baby comes home (especially because I don't know what i'll feel like AFTER baby is born), it'll give me something to do today. DH has to do some of it though, i'm just no good at hanging lights in the windows so he'll do that when he comes home from work - and then this weekend he will put the tree up, and i will decorate it maybe next week. Unfortunately we do artificial tree... All my life living at home with my parens i got a real tree but for DH and I it's just been easier to get fake one, maybe one day we'll go back to a real one. we have a deal worked out where he sets it up (because i claim to not know how to LOL) and i decorate because he hates putting the balls and all all over it! Normally its a lot more fun to do it with him when he's home, but with me being home and bored it just makes more sense to do it this way.

We're supposed to get with with another storm here today - high winds, rain, and maybe even snow - not as bad as the hurricane that just hit but it is of concern to some parts of the state (mainly the shore area which i am not in), but i still don't plan on leaving the house in it so thats another good reason for me to decorate today. i moved my dr. appt from tomorrow to yesterday, no new progress - just a "very short cervix", no dilation.

so thats it for now! going to start my day, put my christmas music on, drink hot chocolate and decorate!

Our family has been in such a Christmas mood this year. It's funny. This weekend we'll take down our corn stalks and move the pumpkins to the compost pile, we really only decorate outside for halloween/fall. Usually we keep them up until after Thanksgiving, but since my c-section is the Monday before Thanksgiving we're going to make sure everything is cleaned up before.

This next week I have off from work so I have to go through the kids toy area (which is where our Christmas Tree usually goes) and give away toys the kids don't play with anymore, anything broken or missing pieces, etc. Move all their toys up into their room and get ready to put the tree there. We usually go to the Christmas Tree farm and cut our tree down the first or second weekend in December, so DH and the kids will do that solo this year.

DH always does all the Christmas decorating for the house, tree, etc. He is such a big kid this time of year, it's great. The only thing we're going to do a little differently is take the kids on the Polar Express Train Ride. We did it two years ago and they loved it, but last year it was too expensive, this year, we really want to do it again and the kids are so excited about it.

We're waiting till Thanksgiving weekend to put up Christmas like normal. If for some reason Zoe decides to not come till that weekend, then I'll just have my parents help me the following weekend when they get here. New baby or hugely pregnant, most of Christmas WILL go up. Aiden has already been soooo excited by all the store displays this year. I'd love to start putting stuff up now slowly, but DH says absolutely not.

I wish we could! However, with us not moving until mid-December, I guess it'll be kinda pointless. I'll have to come up with some little things my older 2 can make to put up b/c an undecorated home is so sad.

I think I'm going to hold off till after thanksgiving. Granted I may be HUGE by then.... But I'm going to try. I'll either have a newborn or be Gigantic. Either way won't be easy.

Since we won't be in town any time soon we won't be decorating at our usual time. But I just don't have it in me to decorate right now (we leave tomorrow) so I will decorate right when we get back on Dec 17th.

We moved last year in mid December. Our stuff headed to another state, while we lived with what we could fit in a small uhaul trailer for 3 months in a temp apartment. lol. We hung up our stockings, some cheap garland, and a little table top tree. It was enough for some cheer. I'm REALLY eager to see our Christmas stuff since it's been 2 years now!

We also moved last year at the end of December, and didn't get our tree up until about the second week of Dec since we were traveling a lot finding a new house and such. The movers came 2 days after Christmas so we really didn't get to enjoy our decorations! Really looking forward to Christmas this year and thinking about decorating next week. DH and I are planning on doing so serious cleaning this weekend and then MIL will be here next week while DH is out of town, so she could help with the tree and such. Just wondering how hard it will be to keep DS out of the tree!!

Having a tree again has me a bit worried. So its getting crammed in the corner where we can anchor it to two walls. "Priceless" ornaments are going on the garland that we bought last year. Where he can't reach it in the least bit!!! lol

We'll probably wait until the 24th to put up decorations for Christmas, right now we really don't have any "fall" decorations up - though we did go all out for Halloween (those have since been taken down). I love decorating for the Holidays but with a 5 year old I know that as soon as I start putting up the Christmas decorations he'll be too excited to focus on anything else besides that. I really love celebrating Thanksgiving and try to focus on 1 holiday at a time so we just wait until the weekend after and decorate as a family then. Plus, we're so broke this year I don't even want to think about Christmas and how the heck I'm going to manage to buy gifts with a newborn...
