Tummy sleeping?

I know the recommendation is for babies to sleep on their backs, but I noticed how well Piper was sleeping chest to chest during the day that I tried putting her on her tummy in the pack n play when I had to get up to take care of some things. She slept so much better and for over an hour like that. She will sleep 20 minutes max on her back during the day. I have done it a few more times since and she just sleeps well that way and I can get stuff done around the house all of a sudden! I check on her every 5 minutes because I worry about the SIDS thing. Does anyone else do this or am I really putting her in danger? I know I slept on my stomach as an infant and here I am. I almost feel like I have been scared by doctors about this when it is not that huge of a deal. Maybe it is, I just don't know! Help!

I say go with it. Make sure shes flat on a sheet, nothing her face could get pushed up against, and so on, and I think youll be fine. Piper isnt at high risk for sids... she was full term, shes a girl, not exposed to 2nd hand smoke, is healthy, and if I remember shes bf'd??? any who, shes at low risk for sids, and if she likes it and is content, I say go with it. none of my kids have ever slept flat on their backs. Im a stomach sleeper myself and always have been Smile

Mine likes to sleep on his side and only in his bouncy seat or at an incline.
