Weight loss chat thread/support

Now that many of us are brinking the 6 week pp mark, or are over it....

Who is working on losing the baby weight, or at least to get back into you pp size? who has another goal in mind? What are you doing to lose it? or plan on doing?

Lets support each other as we all share this part of our pregnancy journey Smile

I am not quite to the 6 week pp yet... I still have a week. But, I stopped bleeding almost a week ago. So, I am starting to think about what I am going to do to lose the weight, and work on getting to where I ultimately want to be with my body.

I have had a hard time losing the weight in the past, and never got to my pre 1st baby weight till after I joined Weight Watchers after having DD. After her I didn't start really working on losing the weight till she was a few months old... this time I want to start sooner since I know it will help me feel better.

my plan:
Have DH get me a couple of pp work out videos... Since its freezing here its hard to get active. My plan is to do the aerobics portion at least once, if not twice, a day. The boys actually did some of these with me after DD and it really helped get their energy out... hoping that it will have the same effect this time lol. I am hoping to start asap... need the video first.

I am not going to worry about the diet portion of it till after the holidays. Its hard to get used to a diet during a time of year that involves so many temptations. I am really interested in the 7 day diet book, but I don't know how well that will work. What I LOVED about WW was that they broke it down into points (way easier for me to maintain then trying to count calories) and they make sure that you have more for nursing so it doesn't effect the baby or your supply.

I am also hoping to eventually get a Y membership, since we live near a Y now. That would also benefit the kids with a way out of the house in these colder months. The only thing that I'm nervous about is leaving wee dude in the nursery they have.. so, we will see how that will work out.

What about everyone else?

I am actually on Nutrisystem right now but add some calories to keep y supply up. It's always been hard for me to lose the baby weight. Right now I'm 7 lbs away. I hit a plateau the last 2 weeks and now see it moving again. I am actually doing my Insanity videos, a bit modified. I did Insanity before and had great results! So I"m getting back into it. I was 14 lbs havier than what I was with DD starting the pg out so I'd like to lose all of it and 10 more. So we shall see. 17 total would make me a happy camper Smile

What is insanity?

I also have about 7.5 lbs to where I was at my first OB appt. 11 to where I got down to after DD, and 16 to where I would like to be. I know that doesnt sound like a lot, but at my height it shows Sad I am hoping that I can get most of it off by this spring. Then, hoping it will be easier to get the rest off, and maintain it, since we will have an easier time getting out of the house, going for walks, etc. I also plan on walking to get DS1 every day its nice enough to once it gets warmer. But, in the mean time, need to find ways to do this.

With how does the neautrasystem work? Is that one where you buy all of their meals?

It's definitely a chore this time around getting back into shape. Insanity is a 60 day workout program. Alot of people give up after the first couple of days because it is hard. It's working out, you don't need any weights or anything. You use your own bodies resistance. I'll post some pics of when I did it in 2010. I use to be very heavy after I had DS1 in 2001. I weighed 172 when he was 9 months old. I'm short as well. 5'1. So you can imagine how huge I was. I didn't even get to that weight pregnant ( with DD or Cristiano that is). But back then is when I first used nutrisystem and I lost 24 lbs in 2 months. It taught me how to eat better so I went off on my own after that. I lost 60 lbs in a 2 year span. ( Had DD and by the time she was 5 months I was back to my pre weight) then I had lost my brother and mom and my weight got really low. But after time it slowly crept back up. I'm not trying to get super thin like I was since it wasn't healthy but I really like myself around 115. So that is my ultimate goal. Nutrisystem is the food they send you. Some of it isn't that good but you also add your own things liek veggies, salads, baked potatoes, fruits, string cheese, etc to it. They have this new frozen entree and so far that food is real good! I am doing Insanity part 2 The Asylum. I already did the first Insanity and my friend has it. A year ago I bought the 2nd one but never started it so now this week I started. I'm sore but its a good sore. I'm use to being fit. I run, do races, etc so I started to get the baby blues and saw the doc last week who also prescribed me meds but I told her I think it's also because I haven't exercised in months. My last race was a mud run when I was 4 months pg. And even that was hard. So now I"m trying to feel good again. Here is some of my Insanity shots. Yes I was small before I started, but I toned up. So that is where you can see the difference. I ate more protein and less carbs when I did this. But I can't totally give up carbs. Plus it's hard to cook different for your fam so I wasn't 100% on my diet. Andf I had to add more calories. But it's doable if you want it bad enough kwim. Oh yea, these pics don't show it but you get really good muscle tone in your arms!

Obviously no where near the point of wanting to exercise yet. Ha. I wouldn't do anything until after the holidays anyways so I can enjoy one without worry. Wink
My goal is to get back to my weight before I had Aiden. I've got 30 lbs to go from my current weight. It's not all from Zoe's pregnancy - I had gained weight from both of our moves last winter. I always gain weight when we PCS due to eating out and being out of my normal routines.
My plan is to walk A LOT. So as weather allows I'll be walking to the BX, on base playgrounds, etc instead of driving. Trying to convince some mommy friends to join me at the mall on bad weather days to walk around and do simple exercises before the mall stores open (less people to annoy with our toddlers lol). I'm thinking I'll have to get an exercise video of some kind that maybe Aiden wouldn't mind joining me in. I can't really do any running or jogging since we don't have a double jogger (or any double stroller for that matter). I lost the 40 lbs I gained during Aiden's pregnancy easily, so hoping I can lose the pregnancy weight plus some without having to go too crazy. Just keeping active everyday and eating healthy!

I don't intend to worry about it until January. The holidays are a bad time to think about losing weight! But after that I will need to get serious about it. I'm still carrying weight from Ellie, and I would like to lose about 25lbs. I'll probably walk and do soe toning stuff, plus cut a lot of carbs. I wish I could do something about my stomach, but after 4 sections I'm not sure there is much hope!

My six week mark will fall right about at the New Year so obviously that's my goal this year. I'm just a few pounds away from pre pregnancy this time but I'd love to lose that plus the ten or so pounds I put on between Patrick and Sean. I did fit back into my normal clothes today for the first time today comfortably. That's my motivation for right now. I'm just happy to have made it to this point right now.

Tiffany- i wonder if thats anything like P90x? My dh and BIL tried that and said it was crazy.

Jackie- thats a great idea. I so wish I knew more people up here so I could do the same.

Jamie- I semi know what you mean I havent had sections, but having had 4 kids I have no illusion of ever having a bikini body Wink

Erin- sounds like great new years res Smile

I have to watch what exercising I do witg my OI. I also have a vertebrae out of place, which causes more back pain. I tried cardio kick boxing after DD was born and got a stress fracture in my pelvis Sad the thing that sux is that given both of these factors its actually better for my body if I weigh less Sad

Well, seeing as Marek is only 5 days old, I have a long way to go until my 6 week PP. LOL. I only gained a total of 11lbs this pregnancy so I'm not so much worried about losing the pregnancy weight as I am about the weight I hadn't lost before getting pregnant this time. I have at least 50 lbs to lose from my pre-pregnancy weight.

I plan to eat moderately through the holidays and then start eating clean in January. After I have my PP check up mid January I plan to do Xbox Kinect games like Zumba, Just Dance and WipeOut (with or without Kostas depending on the game) and then when the snow melts I will be getting back to running.

I'm also getting a GoWear Fit (Complete On-Body Monitor System with the BodyMedia FIT | BodyMedia) for Xmas so that will help me with staying on track with my food and how many calories I'm burning.

I had Kyla 2 weeks and 2 days ago and as of today I am 16 lbs away from what I was before I got pregnant. i don't know if i will ever reach my pre-pregnancy weight or how much i weighed on my wedding day as i was severely restricting my calorie intake... however, right now I am watching what I eat... i only eat 3x a day, with the exception of 1 snack if i can't wait for DH to get home for dinner which is usually a quaker granola type bar... i'm trying not to get obsessed with it for mine and my daughter's sake.. i don't want to set the wrong example for her so it needs to start now...
i have a gym membership that i obviously haven't used in a long time so i plan on going back to the gym when the doctor ok's me for working out, i really love to run and would very much enjoy starting that up again- and I LOOOOVE Jillian Michaels work outs so i plan on also using the DVDs of hers that i have when i can.
other than that when the weather gets warm i really can't wait to take kyla for walks, sometimes thats all the work out you need!

i am happy with my 18 lbs lost so far and also happy that getting back on track with eating was not as hard as i had expected, but i would still like to lose at the least 10 more lbs and continue to be healthy!
good luck everyone

Kier- I also have P90x and DH and I did it after we completed insanity. After doing Insanity, anything else is easier. I found P90 too slow but great for toning! It's hard. I did one of the Insanity workouts yesterday and ended up bleeding a little bit so not sure if it's related but today I'm not going to workout just in case. We didn't put this weight on overnight and we all certainly won't lose it that quickly either. But I don't obsess over it. I use to be that way and it made me depressed and not happy. So this time around I will see where I end up and just be healthy all around.

I've got another 4 weeks until I can ever think about starting to exercise but I ate really well and only gained 20 lbs when I was pregnant and after having him I lost 32lbs! My weight loss has finally started to taper off and I'm about 10-12lbs under my PP weight but I really look forward to when I can start exercising and trying to lose more especially since we plan to start TTC baby #3 by next Nov. Overall I feel much healthier and I feel like I've recovered from Carson's birth quicker/easier than I did DS1, probably partially due to the fact that I gained 80lbs while I was pregnant with him so I carried around that extra weight for quite some time.

Day 19 today and I'm less than 2 and a half pounds away from what I was when I got pregnant this time. 12 lbs to go till I weigh what I did at my best weight and health. Can't wait to do my Jillian Michaels DVD 's.

Well, its been almost a month since we visited this chat.

I dont know if anyone saw the thread I posted, but there is a new challenge on the Biggest Loser Challenge board that just started. I decided to join it and see how it helps. So far, I feel like a loser lol. It seems like I had one ok day, and then my kids got sick and it all went out the widow. I spent all of yesterday cleaning the house and taking care of 2 sick kids, one kid that is just getting over it all, and a 2 month old and didnt get to do my video. Oh well, thats the way it goes right?

My birthday was on Tuesday and DH gave me money to get the next book from the series I'm reading, and a massage. Instead, I ordered the next 3 books off of amazon, still need to find the last book that came out in paper back, and am thinking I am going to use the rest to join weight watchers now rather than waiting for our tax return. My goal is to get down to my first OB appt weight by the 1 yr anniversary of my first BFP. I have 8 lbs to lose to get there right now.

The video Ive started doing is actually a pregnancy one. DH couldnt find a post natal video on line. I just end up modifying it, doing more abdominal work than they do (full crunches rather than just the kegals and such that they do on there). My oldest is home again from school sick today so fingers crossed that I actually get to do it grr

I started using the My Fitness Pal app which helps you track your calories in and out. It's been about a week and no change in weight yet. It doesn't account for breastfeeding so I've been adding 300 calories a day. It seemed like a lot of cals, so I recalculated and realized I'm eating a number to maintain my weight, lol. No wonder there was no change. I ran for the first time yesterday. I'm sore today and I started bleeding again. I haven't bled in 2 weeks. So I guess I need to slow down. I gained 43 lbs this pregnancy Sad so I have a lot of work to do. And after that I need to lose around 30 more, for a total of 57 lost from where I am today. That's a tall order. I'm trying to think about it in smaller goals, because it gets overwhelming thinking about the total.

Tiffany-your Insanity before and after is great! I also have done Insanity. I didn't take before/after photos though. I trained to to a 5k (from basically no exercise) to be able to even think about Insanity. I did a full month of it 6 times a week. Can't remember why I stopped-this was before baby #3 came along. It was brutal. I want to do it again, but I know I have to start slow and build my way up to it. I love that it makes you want to lie on the floor in a pool of your own sweat at the end of it! Smile

Kier-I did the Biggest Loser Challenge with a group from my Dec 08 board. We did it for about 2 years and it has since fizzled out. I decided to opt out again this time because it's a lot of commitment for me to log in every day and post with all that's going on here. I hope you find it useful and you see results using it. I really enjoyed it and have gotten to be good friends when several of the ladies on my team.

I also tend to break it down into goals. My first goal, is 8 lbs. Then, its 4lbs to get to my lowest weight after having DD, then its an additional 5lbs to get to where I want to be... so a total of 17lbs. I know it doesnt sound like a whole lot, but when you are my height, it shows Sad I did an online assessment and my BMI according to them is 27, so over weight. But, it seems like each chart I've looked at is a bit different. Either way, I need to drop some lbs.

DH is also starting to work towards losing weight. They are having a biggest loser challenge where he works. It costs money to enter, but the group that loses the most, and then the individual, all get prizes. They do weekly weigh ins and if you miss you pay a dollar. I am hoping that he will do some of the ww with me, even if he doesnt actually join... and he already set up his bike trainer in the basement so he can start ridding on it each night after the kids go to bed. So, hopefully we can both get to where we want to be and be healthier in general together Wink

TiffyTaffy- Is the body by vi just pre-made shakes for meals or is there more to it?

body by vi is a protein powder. I personally think its the best tasting powder and you can make hundreds of different drinks with it.I have it but haven't used it for weight loss. sorry I'm now, our computer and laptop got a virus 3weeks ago and I dropped my phone in the toilet so I have my kindle which is hard to use! I am still 5lbs away.and want to lose 15more. I started running again this week.my friend and I signed up for a mud run in April so training is starting.Haven't ran since 4months pg when we did the mud run last year.So I'm excited!I did insanity for a week and started bleeding so backed off. Gonna be a slow process but im determined.I'm also planning Cristiano s baptism for next month so hoping I look decent for that.

Beth- Thanks. Its how I lost the weight after having DD. She was supposed to be our last, so I kicked myself, joined weight watchers and got back down to my Pre any baby weight. SO, this time I joined sooner so HOPEFULLY it will be that much easier to lose the weight Wink So far so good. I am definitely loving the extra 14 points for exclusively nursing. Also, I found that I needed to completely cut out my morning coffee run to Mcy D's... that drink alone ate up 5 points Sad yikes. No wonder I wasnt losing the weight on my own lol

Tiffany- Those sound like great goals. I really need to find a church up here. Its tough since we have been so busy since moving here. If I could run I so would do a mud run like that, it sounds like a lot of fun. I am actually hoping to join the YMCA here and hoping to get into a routine of going to a couple classes (yoga, pilates, or zumba) and then also going and doing laps. Swimming is the one sport I could actually do Smile

Tiffy- you'll have to let us know how you like that stuff. Sounds interesting Smile

I'm 7 weeks pp finally and no more spotting, so I've decided it's time to get active again! I bought a cheap $100 double jogging stroller (I'm an admitted stroller snob, so you know I'm desperate to exercise!!! lol) and went for my first walk yesterday. Whew I'm out of shape! Hoping that walking my butt off will help me finally lose weight (some is baby, some is due to moving last winter right before I got pregnant). I've got 26 lbs to go! EEK. My first goal is to work up to walking 20 miles a week. Once Zoe is old enough I want to do Couch to 5K again. I've got one of Julian Michaels DVDs to start using too!
My eating habits are really great right now due to Zoe's diary allergy. Cutting dairy out of my diet (BFing) knocks 3/4ths of the processed food out, so I'm cooking from scratch and really planning out every meal even my breakfasts and lunches.

That is awesome Jackie Smile Here its too darn cold and snowy for me to get out, so activity is hard to come by. I have an at home video, but have found that its getting harder and harder to do Sad First I took a couple of days off since my leg was starting to bother me. Now, any time I start doing it I get about 15 to 20 min in (basically just the warm up) and Kellen starts fussing. Ugg. I really need to get the paper work filled out for the Y. They have a drop in day care, and I'm hoping to utilize that to get in there for a class or 2 each week to get at least an hour of work out in... we'll see how that goes.

I went in and did my first week weigh in this morning for weight watchers and I lost 3.2 lbs Smile I was feeling like I was doing terrible this week, but it really did pay off Smile Now, I only have 5lbs to go to get to where I was at my first ob appt last April Smile

Jackie, that's great! I'll bet cutting out dairy helps a lot! I can't believe how much is in my daily diet. Not sure what I'd eat if Piper was allergic.

Kier, congrats on your loss!

I have been using the my fitness pal app, as I've mentioned. It took me a week to realize I was eating to maintain my weight so this past week I got it straightened out and I lost 3.8. I've been walking and jogging a little on the treadmill when DH is home to take care of the kids. I walked for a solid hour, briskly, on Wednesday and then did some squats and my thighs are still sore today!

Alright, I had my 6 week pp appt today. She said I have healed up nicely and I'm good to go. My weight stalled and has crept up several lbs in the last week (I have not been eating very well with the stress off Kostas having influenza...) so I need to get my bum in gear!

Once Kostas goes back to school next week I plan to start walking and hopefully if DH's schedule allows I might start running in the next couple weeks. I'm really itching to run but its pretty icy right now...

Why is it as soon as my double stroller arrived it turns super cold for this area?! Ugh. C'mon weather this is the SOUTH. We don't do cold. Blum 3

Beth, I've learned since cutting out all diary that Betty Crocker makes dark chocolate brownie mix that's dairy free. SO NOT HELPING ME. Ha. But the rest of my diet is great and dare I say it, healthier than when I was pregnant? Keep up the good work. Sounds like you're doing fantastic. Smile

Kier, my husband's schedule is insane. I can't predict it at all, so I can't rely on him ever for something like me getting exercise. This past week he was on a 1pm to 4am. My kids managed to go 3 days without seeing him. I sometimes hate his job. Just know that I sympathize about not being able to find time to work out. That's why I have my "walk my butt off" plan till Zoe is old enough for me to attempt running again.

ugg ugg ugg. I am getting discouraged. I went in to do my weigh in and only lost .5lbs... .5lbs from my first weight watcher's goal (5% loss). I woke up this morning feeling better than I have (body image wise) than I have in a while. Was so excited. I got extra activity in yesterday shoveling, and wham, the wind was taken out of my sails

At least DH is getting more on board with getting healthy. Hes buying more fruits and veggies, the kids are loving to snack on them with me. We found a way to get a free 3 month trial membership to the YMCA... just havent gotten in to start it since its been so cold/crappy out, the kids have all been sick, and DH is on over time and doesnt get home till its too late to go.

I am just feeling so stuck in general. Stuck in the house (that doesnt really feel like home yet), stuck in a body that doesnt feel comfortable, stuck stuck stuck Sad Yesterday DS2 (my ground hog baby) informed me that he wishes the snow would melt. Lets pray that that means an early spring Wink

I'm down 1 lb! lol. I need to step up my activity, but last week was my first week where I did anything consistently. I either walked or played a dancing video game everyday last week. Felt great to start being active again. Just need to keep at it and step it up.

I def still have trouble getting active. I am hoping that I can get to the Y sometime this week, but Kellen is sick now, and I am fighting a little bit of a cold, so we shall see. This weekend was a bit chaotic (but in a good way). It was DS2's 4th bday. Friday night 2 of my friends came with their kids (6 total) and spent the whole weekend. On saturday we added 5 more adults, and 4 more kids. It was crazy fun Smile So, I'm hoping that all the running I did for that helped out with my activity... though my eating was worse, so we shall see Wink

Kellen is 3 months old TODAY, and I went and weighted in at weight watchers this morning, and I am now 1lbs from where I was at my first OB appt last april Smile

DH texted me this morning and he called the urologist and set up his consult appt for his vasectomy. Im having very mixed emotions about it right now. But, I am also thinking that its time for me to focus on ME and get my body the way I want it. Also, once he has the snip I am going to be selling all of my maternity stuff, then, once I get to my goal weight (8 more lbs) I am going to go shopping and get myself some cute not so mom looking clothes. Not that I'm not still a mom, but now that my body is just about all mine (boobs are still Kellen's for now Wink ) I am going to get to where I feel comfortable and make myself happy with my post 4 kids bod Wink

I am with you there. I usually love winter, but this year, not so much. I had DS2 in the winter (feb.) but it wasnt like this. I only had DS1 who was 2.5 almost 3. Plus, it was a milder winter, and we hadnt JUST moved. I just want it to get nice enough (warm, no snow) so that I can take Kellen out in a stroller and get to know our area, maybe meet some of the neighbors, and so on. I am looking into getting DS1 signed up for tee ball or soccer, I'm letting him pick. I'm kinda hoping that he picks soccer since most of the games are on the weekend so DH can be more involved, plus its more physically active of a sport. But we shall see. I am also going to get him signed up for summer school and swim lessons. That way he stays active and hopefully happier this summer, and I have more opportunities to get out of the house. I may be eating my words in a couple of yrs when I have 4 kids to run here and there, but seriously, right now, I need more time out of the house.
I still havent gotten the y membership going, which I really need to do. Its just been one illness after another, and one storm after another, around here, so getting there has been a challenge. Plus, I want to go when we ALL can go, and with DH on overtime its hard to get there when theres someone to do the tour, answer questions, and so on. Oh well, maybe this weekend???

I am down 33 lbs from my first OB appointment which I hadn't gained anything yet then, but some of the weight was from having the baby. So since starting my diet 5 weeks ago(starting my 5th week now) I have lost 21 lbs!

I am down 33 lbs from my first OB appointment which I hadn't gained anything yet then, but some of the weight was from having the baby. So since starting my diet 5 weeks ago(starting my 5th week now) I have lost 21 lbs!

omg that is amazing Smile
