Yeast infection - TMI!!!

So I'm 27 and I've never ever had a yeast infection in my life, I'm assuming I have what would be my first one ever and I have no clue what to do about it. Aren't they typically treated with OTC medicine and are any of them safe to use while pregnant? Has anyone had this problem while pregnant? I'll probably call my OB tomorrow but right now I'm in total agony and I need relief. Sad

I used to be prone to them after having IV antibiotics when I broke my arm at 18. I would take Acidophilus everyday to keep it away or stop a yeast infection that was just starting. I know several people who used it for the same reason too. Here's a link I found about it also: Acidophilus (Lactobacillus acidophilus) - MayoClinic.com

(((hugs))) Yeast infection are AWFUL! I hope yours goes away soon!

The acidopholisis good, and all natural. I would also talk to your doctor. Sonetimes what appears to be a yeast infection turns out to be vaginosis. Best to get in, get it checked out, and treat whatever it is safely

I had my first yeast infection this pregnancy at 31 years old! It was awful! OB told me just to by the over the counter stuff but the cream not the capsules as they are too harsh (just irritatiing not harmful) and NOT to get the oral tab. Also use the one that goes over 7 days since the cream takes longer to work.

I had it checked with her since I had the itching/burning/irritation but no (sorry about this) cottage cheese discharge, but I guess not everyone has all the symptoms. She did a swab just incase and it came back positive. With mine, I found that washing actually made it feel even worse even though I wanted to be clean of course. Almost felt like I needed lotion down there! But if you've neverhad one before I know they always suggest to get checked out.

That's pretty much how I am; itching/irritation but no discharge or anything else so that's what I'm so confused about. I bought some monistat 3 day so I'm going to call my OB tomorrow and see if it's safe to use that. I have an appointment with my OB on Wed and have to get a strep B test done so I'm hoping I could just call them and get in on Friday instead. Beee I've had it for a few days and It had started to get better but then today it made a 360 and got irritating again. I heard washing with diluted apple cider vinegar is an all natural remedy to balance PH but idk anyone who's ever tried it.

Thanks for the feedback ladies!

My doc told me NOT to use the 3 day stuff. Only to use the 7 day cream! I hope you get some relief very soon!!

Well I got ahold of my OB and they told me just to use the OTC stuff, I was a bit upset at first because I thought they'd want to at least see me and do a swab since I've never had one before but they didn't. >

Long story short, I used the monistat 3 starting last night and I feel A BILLION times better. It's not 100% gone yet but it's something I can live with and I think it was only a very mild case, I'm hoping that the 3 day stuff works and I don't have to do the 7.
