On Wednesday, I met my new OB and I really liked him. He spent a lot of time with me, which is just the opposite of my old OB. The office seems really great too. He suggested that even though we had a NT scan scheduled for the next day, we instead do the new blood test that checks for all the common trisomy disorders and Turners syndrome (we've had babies with Trisomy 13 and Turners in the past). It's more accurate than the combined ultrasound and blood test because they actually test the chromosomes. The good news was we still got to keep the appointment for genetic counseling and they let us do a quick ultrasound to check for any obvious abnormalities - the baby looked great!
We also got an excellent shot at the goods and it really looks like a girl! I'm usually the first person to be skeptical of a 12 week ultrasound gender guess, but it was really clear, three lines and everything. In any case, we'll find out for sure from the chromosomal test in a week or two.
The scary news is, my doctor found a lump. I hadn't had a breast exam in a long time because my old doctor didn't do them if you were pregnant or nursing, so I have no idea how long it's been there. I'm having an ultrasound on Monday. I'm praying it's nothing, but I'm a little freaked out.
